Damian had been bit in his lower left calf by a Sand Shark and, just his luck, was flung away by a bolt of lightning that had struck not even five feet away. He woke up, and screamed from the wound on his leg. Pulling his pants ((for lack of a better term)) away from the wound, he saw that the teeth barely grazed the leg, but it'd quickly get infected if he didn't treat it soon. He stood up, biting his tongue as his leg's pain receptors racked his brain like crazy. He fell back down, making sure the wound didn't touch the sand. He grabbed the ripped pants leg from the desert floor, and ripped it up-after quickly cleaning it to the best he could-and wrapped it around his wound. In the distance, he saw Cody, and could sort of make out Amelinda's form. "Careful!" He yelled, limping towards them, knowing exactly how vulnerable he was like this. "Avoid the Sand Sharks!"

Cody nearly dodges one of the sharks, he creates a wall of fire large enough to form around us all to keep out the sharks. Cody starts getting very weak, but his heart said other wise and stood to rise. He used fire magic against the sharks.
Meanwhile, the elemental creature reaches Damian and helps him, the creature uses a cool watery icy breath to cool down the broozes pain. The it tries to help fight off the sharks around Damian.

Damian swatted the creature away, though he did have to admit, the cool ice did help ease the pain a little. "Go away," he said, shooing the thing away with his hand, "go help Cody. I can handle myself." Grimacing in pain, he drew his rapier, and half limped, half ran towards the wall of fire Cody had created. His eyes widened as the rain decided to out out that fire, but not any other fire. "What the..."

Before another sand shark could attack the pair, came a bolt of lighting, but not from the sky, it was from behind a dune. A pair of sharks very close to Damian got electrocuted. From the dune, came walking Amelinda. Her clothes were badly ragged, and she had a few bruises near the eyebrows and her right arm, but she seemed very full of energy. "Oh yeah, quite the storm!" she said, with statical electricity running through her body. She finally had the chance to show her power. "But where did those stupid sharks came from!? And why did you left me behind!?" she said, glaring at Damian and not paying attention if there were any other remaining sharks around...

Varedis was inside his own head. Kind of like a dream. He knew he had to come back, but the heavy wait of unconsciousness was pressing on him. Yet he took out his blades and cut through the unconsciousness. Now he was...
...Awake. Varedis realized he was on top of Catherine and stood up, "Sorry!" he said awkwardly, then looked outside. All he could see was rain so far, and his shelter was protecting them from that so far, so he went back inside. "Our best bet is to just wait the rain out here, he said to Catherine.

Damian was surprised by the sudden Lightning, and even moreso by the direction of the where it came from itself. It didn't come from the sky. "What the..." Then, he saw Amelinda practically glowing with lightning. "Oh, okay, that's what you meant by storms." He laughed, and ran towards her, still half limping most of the way, and stopped. "I knew we'd be better off if we weren't all grouped up." He said, looking around for more Sand Sharks.

"Yeah, whatever." Amelinda answered rather rudely, looking around for more sharks. She was ready to spark them to a crisp if they dared to attack again. She had enough with those underground piranhas she needed to face sometimes when mining.

In the cold, wet, once-baron Desert there seemed to be no hope for the heroes, out from the sand jumped another Shark, this time headed for Amelinda. It had opened its mouth wide, ready to chomp down on its latest meal. Just then, the ground began to shake, this time not from a quake, but from something else. "GRAHHHHHHH!" A voice shouted. With great force, Gallan shot up out of the ground, a pair of large white wings sprouting out of his back. Quickly he flew towards the shark. Large claws protruded from his hand and sunk into the shark's belly. blood spilled everywhere and the shark fell to the ground with a thud. "We need to get to safety!" It was nearly impossible to hear Gallan over the torrential downpour of rain that was barraging down throughout the Desert. "if we don't hurry we'll die!" Gallan landed on the ground. "I can carry one person and get them to safety, who's it gonna be!?" He was shouting as loud as he could.

Damian was about to respond, then the Sand Sharo was leaping for Amelinda. He was prepared to try to jump at it with his sword, when Gallan burst out of the ground with wings and claws. "That is useful." He said, nodding to Gallan. "Take Amelinda or Cody; I can teleport myself as far to the the last couple of miles till we'd reach the town. Cody could send his little elemental thing with me to cover me till I wake up. Shouldn't take long with it being this close to a full moon."

Toko and Snow had run far enough that they'd bought time to rest. The fire would catch up to them, but they had a few minutes. Time they needed to try to make a plan better than running in the dark for town all night long. Their bodies simply wouldn't let them do that and they knew it.
"First, we need to make sure we're going in the right direction. This darkness isn't helping us see the path we need to take." Snow said, panting between words, tired from running. "I can cast a spell to see in the dark, but the rain will still cause a problem. I need something to at least get the water away from my face." Snow opened his book and began flipping through the pages looking for anything that might be of use. "Aren't you worried about the rain ruining the book?" "The book is protected by magic, it can't be destroyed through normal means." Snow eventually found something that could work. He held his free hand out, palm pointed at the ground, focusing his magic. Two walls of ice stretch from the ground on either side of Toko, coming out at an angel to meet above her forming a sort of tent. Drops of water still leaked through, but it shielded most of the downpour. Snow went to join Toko under the wall so he could stay out of the rain for the moment. Toko put a hand over her eyes. A flash of black flames erupted before her eyes, dissipating shortly afterward. She uncovered her eyes to reveal them glowing a vibrant shade of blue-green. She started by glancing at the map then out in the field, surveying the land.

Gallan then in a terribly unpredictable fist of rage screamed at Amelinda. "YOU WILL KILL US ALL IF YOU KEEP SHOOTING THAT LIGHTNING OF YOURS, IF YOU HAVEN'T NOTICED WE'RE ABOUT TO BE NECK DEEP IN WATER AND THAT COULD KILL US!" He looked around at the three and then took a deep breath. "I'm sorry. But you need to learn when to use your powers and when to save them, no time to argue, Cody." He picked the boy up and sat him on his back. "Hold on." He then took flight. "Be careful, Damian, if you're out for too long you will drown, Be safe both of you." With that, he took off towards the town.

"Great! He rans away and leaves all the heavy work to me." Amelinda said furiously. However, there was something interesting she could do with her powers that she nearly forgot; the rain was to her great advantage, since with the sand all wet, electricity could be conducted. With her body full of current, she used the rain and sand to ram away herself at incredible speeds, and away from the sharks. She didn't knew where she was going at that speed, but she didn't care...

OOC: Thanks, Rickorio and Lunarz.
Rae was shocked as she saw the naked woman appear from within the tent. She certainly wasn't expecting that. "Friend it is, then..." Cal said, and she rolled her eyes as he moved past her toward the tent, as if nothing had been wrong a moment earlier. A sudden peel of thunder stopped him in his tracks as a bolt of lighting struck the ground a few feet from him not a second later. Rae jumped, startled by not only the suddenness of it, but also the nearness. Then the skies unleashed the rain, which pelted down upon them, relentlessly. "I've got this!" Cal shouted, as he moved back to stand between her and Devon. She glanced to him in time to see him throw his arms over his head, like that would do any good. She was about to laugh at his futile effort when she noticed the rain wasn't hitting her. Shocked, she looked up. The rain was still falling, it hadn't stopped. But it wasn't hitting her, Devon, or Cal. In fact, it seemed to be rolling off an invisible dome around them. Once again, Cal's magic impressed her. How she wished she could control her magic like that. Lightning struck again, causing them all to jump and look toward it. The field was suddenly ablaze with flames. "Rae," Devon shouted above the downpour, "you've got this! Control the fire!" Rae swallowed, hard. Control the fire? She couldn't do that. Not with a fire this large and unpredictable. It was quickly becoming a raging inferno. Still, she knew Devon was right. She had to try. Stepping nearer the fire, outside of Cal's protective dome, she watched it, putting her hands out. Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath, mentally telling herself she could do this. She opened her eyes, glaring at the fire in determination. She watched it, studying it, trying to feel it. Her palms slowly grew warm and she knew she was connected to the fire. Moving her arms slowly to the right, she tried to gain more control. She could feel the fire pulling at her, begging her to let it go. It was fierce, strong. It jerked her arms back to the left, but she frowned, furrowing her brow, forcing them back the way she wanted. Sweat formed on her brow as she fought the will of the fire, determined to make it submit to her will. She pushed it about, gaining control of more and more of it. It was an incredible feeling. Never had she taken control of so much fire all at once. Never, really, had she been able to control it at all. The power and strength of the fire coursed through her whole body, igniting her with a boldness she'd never known before. She felt more alive than she ever had before. But she also felt the fury of the fire. It wanted to release itself, to force itself upon the land in all it's destructive power. Her heart suddenly beat faster as a fear took her at the thought of such destruction. She tried to calm herself, to focus on forcing the fire to burn itself out rather than rage more furiously, but to no avail. Her heart only beat faster. Her palms grew sweaty, her vision blurred. Then she was seeing the harrowing images that so often haunted her nightmares. Images of the boys she used to call brothers burning in the flames, their torturous screams crying out for her to help them, for her to stop. It was her fault. She was controlling the fire. She had created it. Now she saw them there, in the flames before her, looks of horror and pain etched so clearly on their faces. She panicked, faltering. Crying out, she dropped her hands, losing all control of the fire, falling to her knees. "Rae!" She could hear the concern in Devon's voice as he rushed to her, stooping beside her. "Are you alright?" She squeezed her eyes shut tight, willing the images away as she caught her breath, forcing her voice to sound calm as she lied. "I'm fine." Opening her eyes, she looked to him. "But I can't... It's... it's too strong..." Devon nodded, the concern she heard in his voice written all over his face. He extended a hand to her, helping her up, as Cal waved his arms gracefully about, gathering a large amount of rain together and forming it into a giant wave. Rae and Devon made their way back to him as he released it onto the fire. It did not good. The fire didn't even seem to notice it. It was as if it were protected by the same sort of dome Cal had made for them earlier. "Weird," Cal said, his brow furrowed. "Indeed," Devon agreed. Cal turned to him. "So, what do we do now?" "We avoid the fire. We run." "With the next town still miles away? We'll never make it. Besides, the fire will catch up to us in a heartbeat." "We have no other options. We run!" And with that, they did. Devon supported Rae, who was still weak from her battle of wills with the fire, until she was strong enough to run on her own. The fire followed them, as fierce and as unrelenting as the rain that still pelted down upon them.

Gallan had traveled quite a bit, he was able to see the Town in the far distance but it was still miles away, though with his power of flight it would only take him about twenty minutes to get there. "Cody. This storm has most likely affected the Fields and the Forest aswell. I can get you to a safe point near the Town, I need you to run as fast as you can and get to safety, the Town should be safe from the effects of this magic as of now." He wasn't exactly sure if the Town would be as safe as he'd said but at this point in time he found it best to assure the boy of such.
Gallan made his descent, just a few miles short of the Town. "Use your abilities, or just run, as long as you can get to the town." Gallan let the boy down on the ground and this ascended up to the sky. "I'm going to the Fields to search for the others and then if I have time; the Forest." He flapped his wings with great force and went flying towards the fields, it would take him awhile but he knew that he could be of some assistance to whomever was located in the Fields. As he flew he was witness to a large hurricane in the distance. It was wild and very indirect which was slightly lucky for him considering it wasn't on a straight path, however it was obvious that it was being controlled by a being with Dark Magic. "Damn..." He mumbled to himself as he flew as fast as he could to the fields.

"We're a bit of course, but only a little. We need to be a bit more due west. Of course we can't keep running, but I might have an idea..." Toko said.
~~~ Following Toko's instruction, Snow crafted a a simple sled from ice. It wasn't much, simply a basic board with a pair of smooth beams at the bottom to slide on. "You couldn't have made something fancier?" Toko said, looking a combination of annoyed and disappointed. "I haven't really mastered my powers.... It was the best I could do..." Snow said nervously, a bit embarrassed by it thanks to Toko's comment. "Whatever..." She proceeded to wave her to staff. Shadows rose up and took form a a pair of shadowy horses with reins tied to the front of the sled. "Alright, now get on." She took seat herself, leaning back to relax, while still keeping a grip to not fall off. Snow took seat next to her, huddled up, gripping the sled. At the snap of Toko's fingers the horses took off, racing towards the town.
"Hmm, I wonder, I may not be able to contact others in the forest, but I can contact others in the field. I gave one of those adventurers an orb, if they've stuck together, I can see if they're all fine."
He took of his ring and held it at arms length and an image of Toko and Snow appeared in front of him, he was quite surprised to see them on a sleigh, but he guessed they were using their powers, then he turned the view around and saw the raging fire, "There seems to be a fire in the field, and the rain isn't putting it out," he turned off the vision and the image of Toko and Snow dissapeared, he turned to Catherine, "How can their be a raging fire, when its raining and everything is wet?"
Gallan had made his way to the Fields, it was hard to see through the rain, he couldn't see anyone around so he decided to try something. "HELLOOOOOO! CAN ANYBODY HEAR ME?" He shouted out, hopeful to have someone return the response. He didn't get any reply so he took a deep breath. He then cleared his throat, he could feel his vocal chords change shape and then he let out a loud screech. "ANYBODY HEEEERRREEEEEE?!" ----- Back in the town of Squall there was a small tavern, it was located in the middle of the town. And while most of the town slept, the tavern was filled with life, a bright light shone out from the windows and the faint sound of music could be heard playing.
As the rode along, the two could faintly hear a voice through the rain. Toko looked around, confused by it. She dug in her ear then flicked away the wax she pulled out, thinking maybe it was just her hearing things. However, the voice persisted. "Do you hear that?" "Hmm? Yeah, I wonder if it's one of the others trying to call for help." Toko leaned her head back to rest while they rode. Upon doing so, she noticed Gallan flying above them. This time the words 'Hello' could be word from the voice. "Hello weird, flying man-bat!" Toko shouted waving back. Snow looked up and saw Gallan, wondering what Toko was waving at. "Why would you say hi to it?! What if it's evil? You just signaled it to attack us." "Hun, we're out in the middle of an open field. Whether I say hi or not, that thing can see us."
//Gallan was on the ground but I'll just edit my previous post.//
Gallan looked around, sure he had heard a response to his call. Finally he had spotted a couple of figures in the field down below, they looked to be riding some sort of sleigh. "Hello!" He called down. Making a descent and flying next to the sled. Gallan gave a small half-smile to the two companions and then looked behind them, noticing the large raging fire that they were trying to get a way from. "Couldn't stand the heat, eh?" He hadn't heard the 'thing' remark that had been made about him but if he had he would've been used to it; the verbal abuse. Being a farmboy wasn't exactly full of friendliness from others. "Are there any more of you?" He could see that the two were perfectly safe on their own when it came to travel, they would be at the Town in no time so Gallan was set on finding all the others that couldn't get there in time.
When Gallan appeared next to them, Snow let out a small scream, falling over and landing on Toko. A devilish smirk stretched across her face as she moved and arm to hold him closer. As her hand started to wrap around him, he quickly sat back up right; his face turning a bright shade of red.
"It's like someone's using powerful magic…" Catherine thought aloud. "Fire and Water are natural enemies, with fire melting snow and water putting out fire."
As Phoenix and Mikey ran to find a way out of the fire, the worst happened as Mikey stopped and became still again. Phoenix looked back, worried to who it was and knowing that he didn't have time to deal with everyone but Ace. Both his and Mikey's hair were soaked and fell over their eyes. Their clothes are also soaked, offering no warmth. Suddenly Mikey took a deep breathe and opened his eyes, and immediately started panicking. As his head jolted from side to side, his hair parted to allow Phoenix to see his eyes, which had turned a sapphire blue color. It was Dusty. "WH-WHAT'S H-HAPPENING?!" Dusty cried out as he folded his arms together as he began shivering. He was panicking as he looked around at the fire and the constant rain. Dropping to the ground, he began to cry as the water soaking into his skin created flashbacks that messed with his head. Phoenix swore under his breathe. Dusty was a problem he'd rather not deal with right now. In a rush, he picked up Dusty and put him onto of his shoulders like he does for Elena and began running again. Dusty had quieted down a little and held onto Phoenix's head for support. Being eleven, Dusty pretended not to enjoy riding on his shoulders like most kids his age, but secretly enjoyed it and forgot about his surroundings. "Shouldn't this rain have put out the fire?" Phoenix muttered to himself.
Gallan nodded and looked into the distance. "The town isn't much farther from here, the Dark Magic won't reach us there, at least not for the time being, I'm going to see if I can find any others." He took off in a new direction, still keeping his eyes out in the field for anyone but now making his way to the Forest to find any others who decided to take the safer path. He noticed that many trees had fallen, something that was near impossible to do with Light Magic as the trees were magical themselves and had all been growing strong for centuries. "I hope whoever is in there wasn't crushed..."
Varedis was looking out into the rain when he saw what seemed to be a glowing bat in the sky. "Hey, Catherine! Can you see that?"
"Yeah," Catherine sighed, "and I don't know what that is either." She looked up higher at the sky, trying to see where it was going. "Do you suppose it's a spy?"
OOC: I'm going in!
Hmm, Cody peeks through the door to have another look at the object. He didn't really wanna be seen yet so he scurried across the floor of the bar and his under the bar table under a chair. He tried looking for the shiny object. He opened his ears in case he needed. He tried to make sure he could not have been seen yet.
Devon ran with the others, knowing they'd soon have to stop. All three were panting for breath, and the fire was gaining on them. Rae was strong enough to run on her own now, so he didn't have the extra weight, but even still, things weren't looking good.
"What now?! We'll never make it like this!" Cal shouted. "I'm about to collapse any minute!" "Can't you just float like you were earlier?!" Rae shouted back. "I wasn't exactly speeding earlier. That takes a lot more effort. And besides, what about the two of you?!" "Well I thought you'd take the first opportunity to leave us and our bickering behind!" The usual bite of Rae's remark wasn't there, and Devon knew why. The fear of their predicament overcame any gripes and annoyances they had with each other. He turned to Cal. "Could you take all of us?" Cal turned to him, his brows furrowed. "Weren't you listening? It takes a lot of effort to go fast with just me! Let alone three of us!" Devon nodded, trying to keep things calm. Though he tried to hide, Cal's panic was steadily rising. "I know. I mean, if you weren't going fast. Could you take all of us, and how fast could you go?" Cal thought a minute before answering, shaking his head in disbelief at Devon's sudden curiosity. "I... Well, I'm sure I could take all of us, but... it'll take a lot out of me, especially if I go any faster than I was earlier. In fact... that might be as fast as I can go with three." Devon nodded again, then stopped, turning back toward the fire. Rae and Cal exchanged looks as they stopped, too, not sure of what he was doing. Cal turned to him. "What are you thinking?" "I'm thinking I'm going to slow down the fire, then you're going to get us all out of here." "You're going to slow it down? How?" Devon didn't answer, spreading his feet and digging in deep, concentrating as he watched the fire. "Devon?" Rae's curious voice was tainted with concern. He ignored her, closing his eyes and taking a deep breath, concentrating. He'd never tried anything like this before. Still, he knew he had to try. Opening his eyes, he threw his arms straight out in front of him, focusing on feeling the earth beneath his feet. Soon, it began to rumble. "Ah, what's happening?" Cal asked. "Great, this is just what we need! An earthquake!" Rae shouted, obviously annoyed. Devon didn't explain anything to them, needing to keep his focus. Feeling the earth respond to his will for it, he threw his arms upward. Up from the ground shot a giant earthen wall, creating a barrier between them and the fire. As it spread in either direction, filling up the length of the field, Devon could feel his strength fading. Sweat began to form on his brow, though he was damp and cold from his wet clothes. As soon as the earthen wall reached either end of the field, he dropped his arms, panting for much needed breath. He'd already been worn out from running, and now he could barely stand. He turned to the others, not surprised by their shocked expressions as they stared, dumbfounded, at the wall. "Devon, you just...." Rae started, trying to find the words to speak. "You just used magic!" "Yes," he said between breaths, nodding. Rae pulled herself back to reality and her brow creased as she frowning at him. "You never told me!" Her arms were soon crossed over her chest. He nodded, not feeling the strength to explain himself. "I know." He could no longer support himself and wobbled, toppling forward. Cal was there to catch him. "Easy does it!" He looked up to Cal, weakly. "Take us as far and as fast as you can. Once our strength returns, we can run again. The wall should stay standing for at least a little while." Cal nodded, an unexpectedly serious expression on his face. Rae came over to support him as Cal stepped aside, waving his arms about in a sort of semi-circle, gathering the rain water toward him and forming it into a sort of raft, floating just near the ground. Rae helped Devon onto it, and he noticed the concern in her eyes, though he knew she was still upset with him. Devon laid back, allowing himself to float on the watery raft as though it were a stream, and he was glad for the chance to rest. Rae climbed into the river beside him, and finally, so did Cal. He sat up behind Rae and began moving his arms in a swirling motion, just as he'd done earlier in the day, back when their journey had only just started. "Just let me know when you need a break," Devon said to Cal, then closed his eyes, falling into a relaxing sleep as the gentle water rushed by beneath him, carrying him into a world of dreams. He thought he heard a scream, then a screech, but it was distant, and soon lost to the darkness.
