Okay, so I've been on a Legend of Spyro binge lately, for some reason, which led me to remember how much I absolutely adore the soundtrack of The Eternal Night. I'm curious about the words of the theme song, though. I'm pretty sure they're Latin, but does anyone have a clue about what the words themselves are?

I'm assuming you're not talking about This Broken Soul? Yeah, the Latin choir was everywhere in the Legend trilogy, but I have no idea what was being said. <.<

The main theme is just an excerpt from the Celestial Caves' theme.

Also, yes, all the LoS games had Latin choirs in the music.

I am also curios. (Pretty sure that's how it's spelled. Feel free to correct me. XP )
A translation would be nice to have.

*Curious

Unfortunately, no know translation exists. If you're deeply interested, emailing Becky Kneubuhl and/or Gabriel Mann may be worth pursuing.

This might be old news, but I did get a response. Here's a link to the screenshot (I didn't know of a better way to post it)

Here's what is says, word for word:
hello madison!

thanks for your nice email.

yes, all the lyrics for the legend of spyro music are in latin, and they do have meaning. they're mostly ovid poems. :-)

thanks again for writing!
best,
becky

This is really interesting to me, and its neat that the composer would answer a question about a seven year old game smilie

Yeah, I'm not 100% sure what an Ovid poem is. I tried googling it but I still don't really get it. Does it mean she put old poems to music? Or they wrote them in a certain style? Or maybe something else, idk. I'm not sure if I should email her again, I don't want to bother her. Also I don't even know what I would really ask, because I don't feel knowledgable enough about the whole topic

Ovid is an ancient writer. Too bad she didn't say which poems by him she used...

That's the first thing I've heard from Becky in a long time. I love that she's still nice enough to respond to emails.
If only someone knew somebody who spoke Latin...

All of Ovid's known poems have been translated into English. But, like I said, we don't know which one(s) Rebecca used, so it still doesn't help. XD
