Skylanders doubts? [CLOSED]

Am I the only one getting A HEROSTAIL vibes from this, a spyro game made fore kids and only meant to bring in money? I will keep a eye on this game, I am a reviewer of some lesser rank and I do think this game lock a bit like the original but the game locks like it can do well whit out spyro, like if he was just tagged on to bring in extra money. And the toys are just screaming that this originally was a different project.

I sincerely believe that this is game is an attempt by ActiVision to reel in new Spyro fans and ultimately resurrect a dying series that everybody knows is an iconic figure and gaming...I believe that Spyro will go down in history, as iconic as Pokemon, Sonic the Hedgehog, Mario, Crash Bandicoot, and etcetera.

Yes, but everybody knows Spyro is dying!
I think Acti really is trying to bring Spyro back to life.

they're putting his name on a title, just letting you play as him. he will have nothing to do with the whole game i bet you right now

But, if Spyro's popular enough, activision will continue Spyro...as his own series...meaning we may see some old characters and designs returning.

I have a question, a serious question, why do people hate the new Spyro just because of his design? I'm serious, I really would like to know.

The game isn't even on the market yet, you can't judge it already. We have little to no information, the games hasn't even hit the Beta stage yet...you can't judge it based on a little plot and a couple of screenshots. Or rather, you casnt judge it accurately.

Personally I think AHT and ETD was the worst of the console games, ETD was just not a finish product and they were trying to do a Crash Twinsanity in AHT, if you like it then shore I am not going to troll you I just don't like them and prefer the LoS series over the two of them.

I love AHT, it's my fave of the PS2 games released so far.

I'm hoping that SSA will be just as good though, I haven't really overly enjoyed a Spyro game in years.

Okay, just my two cents here: It looks like this game could have some potential. But nobody besides the developers knows what it's actually going to be like, so I'm withholding my opinion. Will I buy the game? The answer is most likely yes, because even if I don't enjoy it my brother might. And seeing as I enjoyed playing all the Spyro console games in the past, then there's a mighty good chance that I will enjoy this one as well.
About the love, hate, and criticism this game is receiving: in my experience, no matter what is being released, no matter what franchise it's from, some people will love it or hate it at first sight. That's the way it always has been and probably will be. Again, these are just my thoughts. Make of them what you will.

Alright, I think it's time for HIR to throw some sense into things. *clears throat*

What I can deduce about Skylanders is...

1. The game is designed with a two-fold intention. The first intention is to make Activision money using a franchise name that a decent percentage of the population is aware of. Activision is a cash company that has thrown out quality simply to get a brand name on shelves as fast as possible. Activision swallowed up Sierra for some of the series Sierra had control over; unfortunately Spyro was one of those series. Activision realized that Spyro can be made for all the different game systems, quality games or not and that leads to more money. The second intention is much nicer; Activision stated that this is an "experiment." Remember that Activision had absolutely no say in what happened in DotD. They stuck their name on the game at the last second but Sierra really did handle everything. Activision wants to see how people would react to their true first Spyro game. If the reaction is good, Activision intends to create a stand alone Spyro adventure more like the past games.
2. The game has an identity crisis. It is trying to meld an RPG level storyline with typical adventure/platforming. History has shown that these games are not really that great. Often times gameplay is sacrificed for the "deeper" story. This is cause for serious concern.
3. The game is getting the "glitz" make-up policy. An Academy Award-winning composer (Zimmer) and two high caliber screen writers (guys from Toy Story) have been hired to work on this project. This can be a double-edged sword, in my opinion. Either the Hollywood treatment will enhance the gaming experience or detract from it. Pray for the former.
4. I do like the idea of multiple playable characters. We've gotten nothing but Spyro (and Cynder, who was really a clone of Spyro) for many years so a change of pace seems nice.

Overall, I doubt I'll be buying this game. <.<;

True, I agree but even thou Cynder was just a clone of Spyro she did allot for the game play. One of the reasons she is well liked (if you ask me) was because she gave us something new. Something that have not happened sense the original trilogy. (not counting ETD or AHT)

How can you tell us that the story and gameplay sucks when you HAVEN'T PLAYED THE DAMN GAME?

And if you say the story sucks, then I guess you also think the story for Toy Story is also terrible.

There are three outcomes for Spyro here:
1) SKL fails and he is doomed to fade away like Gex and Croc.
2) SKL is successful but the character of Spyro is unpopular, and Activision decides that they'll not recieve their money's worth by releasing a new game with him as the main star.
3) SKL is successful and the character of Spyro is taken to positively, and Activision releases a new Spyro game.

...This is the low point of the Spyro franchise, in other words. It's like if Mario's latest few games failed, and so he was stuck on the cover of an unrelated game to raise a few bucks.
