Members Constantly Double Posting [CLOSED]
Shrazer320 Emerald Sparx Gems: 3564
#1 Posted: 20:18:09 01/03/2008 | Topic Creator
So I've noticed quite a few members have recently joined, and love to double post, even TRIPPLE post. I've noticed it with a few members that also arn't so new.

I've pointed the edit button out on several occasions to the ones who double post and see that they still do it. Any ideas on how to help 'em figure out that there's an edit button, dark?

Note: It doesn't bother me too much when it's a fodder since they lack an edit button, but there's no excuse for members doing it.

When people make a topic, it should "NO DOUBLE POSTING" at the bottom of the topic post.

:/ I doubt that'd help.

Hmm, maybe a thing that doesn't allow someone to post on a topic when the last post is made by them?

Or a filter, the same as the "so they cant post again within 20 secs of posting" idea. It doesnt let them DP within 3 days or something.......

You should be banned/suspended... if only for a couple of days.

Not only was that NOT funny... but you posted it in the ONE TOPIC that was complaining about what you did.

And then you went and QUADRUPLE POSTED! Do you think it's funny? Frankly, I don't. T_T

Edit: For the record, I made this post in time to see your multi-posting, bub. >.>

If no one answers... they obviously don't feel like answering... and so if it was a post in the topic, it stays as a post... if its a topic, it dies. That's life: forum life to be more precise, young grasshopper.

Ok, let me clear up my opinion here.

I know the cause for people not replying and therefore double posting. Take Shrazer's post for example (Not picking on you, merely because it's write there). I mean, do you really expect replies from posts like "T_T yeah..."? No! That implies absolubetly nothing to keep the topic alive. I'm not surprised that some people have alot of posts for the short time they've been a member - they easily raise it with one word posts. My suggestion is to go along with the maximum characters in a post: a minimum as well.

Yes, flood control is a brilliant idea, but there's one mentioned flaw - long posts that exceed bandwith. We'd best discuss this matter primarily because I have no idea how to solve such a problem.

The edit button should stand out more. It's just too small and I'm not suprised if one non-observent eye hasn't yet spotted it.

BASALT, dark52 is as annoyed by this situation as us.

Now try and beat that!

Is it considered to be Double-Posting if you are just updating a glitch guide, and no one else has posted previously???? If it is, then it could be months before I could finally update because I'd have to wait and wait for someone else to post underneath my comment. And there's also the possibility of no one posting anything on that topic!!!! So that would mean I wouldn't be able to update my glitch guide without being constantly yelled at for Double-Posting.

I agree with you, "Ross". Also, you can only Edit so much information into one post before you can't post anymore. So, you are forced to Double-Post to continue the guide.

You bring up a good point... the bandwith is a bit of a problem. Maybe there's a way around flood control...

GOT IT!

Notice how the Quick Reply is at the bottom of every page. So, in the time it takes the user to finish typing the SECOND WAVE O' TEXT, the flood control should probably have expired! This would obviously mean flood control wouldn't be set to "X" number of days, but rather "X" number of minutes. How's that?

I don't think I've ever tried to post more or less than I should for the correct response. :/ Honestly, I wouldn't care if my favorite thread (which I don't have) sat dead for a week.

Don't know, HIR. Anyways, to stay on topic, I don't Double-Post at all anymore. (In less you think that my Glitch Guide constant posting is Double Posting, which, as we all know, not something that I try to do. I only do it because I write too much information for the Glitch Guide that when I update it, it says that it can't post because it's 1,000 to 10,000 characters over the post limit. That is the only time I Double-Post: when I run out of room to post on one posting comment. I will never try to purpously Double-Post!!!!) Although when I first entered the site, I sometimes Double-Posted frequently. Then the Edit button information came to me, and I realized what I was doing was wrong, and immediately let up my purpously Double-Posting ways.
