I just want to make it clear that this is not a matter of opinion, nor is it up for debate (unless you're a lawyer, and last I checked none of us are).

The reality is that things like this can get ugly fast. And there are real consequences for it.

This is a very common misconception.

The Internet is not necessarily part of the public domain. That term refers to copyrighted works, which photographs are. It doesn't apply here.
