my sister is currently playing the game because i tried to get her into it. i decided not to tell her anything, except that you CAN spare monsters and you don't have to kill them.
she killed toriel because she didn't know how to spare her, and is killing monsters because she thinks she needs XP. D:
not that i blame her. if i didn't watch a lp up to toriel before i bought the game i would have done the exact same thing, because you play the game with the mind of a regular RPG.

As long as she learns eventually the consequences, it's alright,and the way Toby intended really. Tons of people got to the judgement and had their minds blown... Though there are stories in the subreddit of people who did Genocide mostly accidentally(mostly because they didn't know what would happen but wanted to kill everyone already).

I'd probably have gotten the King Papyrus ending, can't see myself solving any of the other bosses alone when most LPs take several deaths to even notice there's a way; at least with him there's a clear progression and that you just need to keep him talking.

I don't really know how anyone can "accidentally" complete a true Genocide run blindly. It is so easy to screw it up, and you actually have to work towards it. Neutral end? Yeah, but not true Genocide.

Skip all the text and grind for levels while doing other things, according to the guy's sister in a thread about it weeks ago.

Also, Jack had a good idea; writing down all of the final boss's attacks. I may have to do that.
I was a bit disappointed that Jack didn't spare Sans though. I actually thought he would. Joel's reaction to that will forever be the best because unlike other LPs, Joel got emotional over that part, and I probably would to if I never knew that happened.
San's fight and Undyne's fight are actually what's making me so hesitant to do the genocide run. Experienced gamers have a had a bad time with those two fights and say that it takes them hours, so someone like me would have no chance.

I'm fairly sure that most people don't want to kill her, but do it because they don't know how to spare her, or kill her because they didn't know there was another option. If I didn't watch the tutorial part before playing the game, then I probably would have killed her too.

it's mentioned early on that monsters can be spared when low on health, but since you can't do little enough damage to get her into sparing conditions that way, people end up accidentally killing her
And also, people tend to only try sparing her once and believe it doesn't work and don't think about trying to spare her again. I've seen a few LPs do this, and my sister did it.

The first boss is rigged to crit when below a certain treshold, I've seen it happen tons of times at the exact same spot, I don't even think there's low HP flavor text like the others. There are two tips from NPCs: spare with low health or do it when it's not yellow,but tons will do the first and end up discovering the hard way
that Flowey knows what you did.
On other subject, I keep forgetting Papyrus is one of the few characters that doesn't speak with asterisks. I'll keep it around when quoting him,though, someone won't know where it's from without that.

it seems like that game project could still be underway :)
EDIT: although, he basically said that this year will be finishing stuff from the kickstarter (probably the bonus stuff like the comics), so he probably won't even get time to work on something truly new until 2017. so i'm not expecting anything until 2018.

Yeah, being Toby he won't get a huge team or whatever to get this developed any quicker than the current game. In fact,how that he's pretty much rich from the game sales, he'll proably take longer to add all the things he wants the way he wants :U
But it's nice to know it ain't over yet, especially since it's the same hints as the Other Game description on the kickstarter. I just hope the incoming harassment over the time taken doesn't kill that motivation.

While I know that whatever dumb things people may do in a fandom you're in doesn't mean you did it, it's still slightly embarrasing when the immature/obnoxious side (Because every fandom has those.) doesn't know when to shut their mouths. (Or keyboards.)
When things like this happen I just hope whoever is the creator of the thing people are fans of knows that its not the whole fandom who's acting like that.
Yeah it really does suck when that happens. Hussie, the creator of Homestuck, a webcomic that Undertale is related to in a way because Toby does the soundtrack for Homestuck, has had harassment for a similar thing. I do agree that Hussie shouldn't have taken on two projects at once (the actual comic and the game), and it was the kickstarter that has screwed everything up, but he's really trying his best to get things done and harassing him won't do anything except make him frustrated and pressured.
But I do notice that people tend to be more understanding when the author updates on things and lets the fans know how the project is doing, which is something Toby has done in the past when Undertale was taking longer than usual to finish. What really pisses of fans is when things take longer than usual to make and they're left in the dark with no updates.

But kinda innacurate since Skull Kid never says that. It's the Happy Mask Salesman, who has a nice Flowey-compatible creepy face all on his own.
Also just had a post on r/undertale where like 3 people armchair diagnose Sans with depression and try to shoot down anyone who calls bull on it. Don't do it guys we were doing so well in not turning into tumblr.

The thing is though, Undertale had been inspired by Earthbound a lot. So if any games would to be inspired by Undertale in the future, then they're technically being inspired by Earthbound too. :\
Undertale has actually made me want to play Earthbound.

So I started my first ever Genocide run the other day, guess I'll share a few thoughts....
This is terrible. The grinding is bad enough and not fun at all, and while I was back in the ruins I felt awful whenever talking to Toriel.
idk, I just had this terrible feeling that I can't put a name on, except some form of "guilt" for what I was going to do?
While I was talking to her, I couldn't stop thinking "hnnngh she's just so cute and sweet and lovable and LET ME HUG YOU TORIEL-" while at the same time I just felt terrible to the point of getting to her house.
Well, as if the house scene wasn't heartwarming enough (Fitting, for what I was about to do.), I got to the point where I ended up killing her, and despite all the terrible feelings prior to this moment, I just felt nothing.
It was just "Oh, I killed her...................... Huh."
I continued on like normal, more grinding (Hated it.) and the whole time I felt either A: Nothing/Emptiness (which appears to be the norm for the geno run, so I hear.)
or B: A sense of dread. It was weird.
Got to the point where I had to kill Papyrus. I literally sat there for a while, thinking "I could totally just spare him right now and stop all this." But then I killed him.
Felt nothing.
Continued on.
incomes more grinding (HHNGNRNGR-), then I fought Undyne the Undying.
The fight was difficult, of course. I died repeatedly. Totally deserved that for what I was doing, I told myself. XD
When she died I was literally in the process of going "YEAH!" cause I did it, but then that "YEAH!1" was replaced by "Oh..... Aw."
Followed by more nothingness.
went to Hotlands, typical grinding (I got sleepy during the grindfest there. lol)
Mettaton was pathetic.
And, well, so far the only highlights of Genocide for me was Flowey being afraid of me (HOW'S IT FEEL FLOWEY, HUH?? >:D ) And the Sans fight.
I'm still on the Sans fight, It's actually kinda fun, despite the fact that I've died 1000 times.
During the run though I kept questioning myself, asking "Why am I doing this?" "Why don't I just stop?", even now during the Sans fight I'm seriously questioning my actions and why I'm even bothering to do this. Theres nothing to gain, why bother?
Soo I came to a few conclusions about the Genocide run:
It sucks. I really hate it and am never doing it again. Even before I started it I kept questioning what I was thinking and why I wanted to do it, and while I didn't know why at first, I came to that conclusion: I was interested in the emotions it would make me feel. Which so far have been guilt, and dread. Pretty impressive, Toby...
I don't know if Genocide is really that bad, or if its just so well-done that it actually makes you step back and begin to really question your motives, like "Why am I doing this?" and whatnot.
Good job, Toby. Seriously, you managed to make me really question my choices.
After all this (whether I quit now or not), I am going to do a Pacifist run sometime for sure. Wosh my sole~

Gosh darn it I ran here thinking it was just the Secret Room text, I'll have to check this out later.
That one is definately the biggest though,the rest are either teasing or more character interactions which is cool but specific.
And hey confirming Burgerpants knows Nice Cream Guy. And by that I mean hates.
But the note in Sans' Secret Room already removes a lot of doubts - he's the only one that writes in lowercase, and it can't be about Alphys or another known character because of it.Gaster theory headcannons at full power!
