What YOU wanto see in Trap Team?

Hello. today is the day of the reveal of Trap Team. I'd LOVE to share what I'd like to see in the game. I also want to know what YOU want to see in the game. Here's my list

1) ONE gimmick character for each element. Giants had it right, SSF had too many Swappers. One is all we need.

2)Two new core characters. It looks like were getting two. Since the Dragon Fly was life and so is the New trigger happy looking guy.

3) Even better graphics then Swap Force. We will likely have at least similar graphics. We'll find out later today.

4) More open levels and more level diversity. The levels in Swap Force were great, but weren't very wide and open. They also were similar to each other. 3 desert theme levels and then 3 theme levels. That annoyed me when I first got the game. Felt very repetitive.

5) Reposes of Ghost Roaster, Dino-Rang, and Sunburn. Also more unique reposes. I'm not sure if I will get any this time. Depends in who is reposed, even Spyro and Gill Grunt might be skipped this time (Not likely though).

6) A great story. Arc and I both have been critical of the story and the over all writing of Swap Force. TfB was damn good at making a good story. Since they're making the Trap Team, I'm expecting something good.

7) More levels. Swap Force was so short that boss levels were separate levels to make the game look longer.

8) Better game-play and more to do. SF had great game-play and they could expand on that. Sf also had good content. just not great content.

9) This is an odd one but, fix the hat sizes. I want to have the Purple Fedora on my Spyro, he looks good in it, but it covers his whole head and it looks weird. It should like how he wears it in the 3DS games.

For me...a patching strategy, more online components, and risks taken in core gameplay mechanics, some form of heroics or upgrading character stats RETURNING would be a great hit list for me.

Graphics won't make up for shoddy gameplay. Gameplay has to be there...and they have to take risks. I've talked about that.

4) More open levels and more level diversity. The levels in Swap Force were great, but weren't very wide and open. They also were similR to each other. 3 desert theme levels and then 3 theme levels. That annoyed me when I first got the game. Felt very repetive.

Open world would be a great risk and one that would pay lots of dividends.

5) Reposes of Ghost Roaster, Dino-Rang, and Sunburn. Also more unique reposes. Im not sure if I will get any this time. Depends in who is reposed, even Spyro and Gill Grunt might be skipped this time (Not likely though).

I don't care about reposes anymore. I'm not rewarding them for reposes unless they redo the movesets or it's a Series 2 to allow path switching.

6) A great story. Arc and I both have been critical of the story and the over all writing of Swap Force. TfB was damn goox at making a good story. Since they're making the Trap Team, I'm expecting skmething good.

Technically, Swap Force was just as long as Giants content wise. Chapters were of unequal length, and you're forgetting that.

More levels but they should be shorter.
Out of
36 Short Levels
24 Medium Levels
and 12 Long Levels. I would take 24 Medium levels. Maybe 30 minutes per level max.

More diverse gameplay. Online would be great. Open world (at least for sections) would be awesome too.
If they're going to add a significant number of new characters, creativity is crucial. I'm concerned about this right now, especially after seeing the Trigger Happy & Zook combo guy in that leaked photo this morning. I wasn't excited about the 3 Frito Lay characters either, especially the Undead Hex with Warnado/Free Ranger's tornado.

A meaningful gimmick. Interchangeable weapons? I'm not sold on that idea. Karts? Maybe as a separate, 2nd standalone game like LittleBigPlanet did.

I'd like to see that Giants & Swappers are still meaningfully represented in the game. Also anyone who has had a Series 3 version at this point should *not* be brought back for a Series 4...it's just too much saturation. I think I'm okay with Seires 3 guys being "mutated" into the larger characters as a way of sidestepping the Series 4 route.

I'd also *love* to see this game not be hampered by the needs of legacy systems (Wii). Let's embarace more digital content and god forbid patches to fix bugs that crop up.

I'm not sold into weapons either, as the skylander is the weapon! Hence, I think they should be concentrating on the GAME not the TOYS.

My biggest question is are they really going to support every single existing Skylander in the new game?

There are probably graphics and sound assets they can reuse to make it less painful, but it still seems like an insane amount of work to maintain backwards compatibility. Especially when you factor in Swap Force figures.

It's not that crazy, when you factor in UNIQUE characters. And that was a HUGE selling point...if they go back on that they may as well end it now. I would expect the Adventure location items in Swap Force NOT WORK in the new game. They've already set that precedent.

Also, I think they are settling down on the game engine and if that's the case they should expect minimal re-work to existing figure IP.

I think we are deluding ourselves if we think there are going to be less toys. As long as this franchise is making as much money as it is for Activision, they have no reason to slow down the quantity of toys being brought out. The best we can hope for is less reposes...but even then, reposes make it simpler to program for characters as you don't need to come up with a brand new code.

Basically I think we will see the same quantity (if not more) of new characters and reposes for this game (Unfortunately)

Oh they will have to or else Dune Bug, Fire Kraken and Rattle Shake will lose some of their upgrades then. They were the very few who actually had jumping attacks.

Honestly I actually agree with you there. Swap Force had probably the worst sales legendaries ever and even on some variants not selling too well. So yea I see where you are going with this.

What I'd like to see!
Keeping existing things like jumping and the good graphics
Shorter levels, but more of them (Because if you have, say half an hour to play, its hard to get a level done!)
Original characters, not so many maybe?
And Im hoping for free roam, but I won't mind if it doesn't come!

Things I hope to see:
- More focus on the actual game than on the figures.
- Smaller amount of gimmick characters which don't require as many to complete the story chapters like in Swap Force.
- A booster pack like with Giants, so we don't have to get a third portal.
- More than 20 story chapters like in Spyro's Adventure.
- Completely new movesets for reposed characters, not just wow pows. Otherwise, I won't bother buying them.
- A bank where you can store gold if your Skylanders have a large amount that they don't need, so that other Skylanders that need it can withdraw it.
- Free roaming levels.
- And most importantly, SERIES 2 SUNBURN!

Things that I expect based on what we had in previous games:
- Two of the first new Skylanders to be revealed will be the ones in the starter pack.
- The first reposed Skylander to be revealed will be in the starter pack (Cynder in Giants and Stealth Elf in Swap Force). I wouldn't be surprised if it was also female and/or introduced in SSA.
- An Earth Skylander that is made of rocks and has green crystals (SSA-Prism Break, SG-Crusher and SSF-Doom Stone).
- A Water Skylander with ice based attacks (SSA-Slam Bam, SG-Chill and SSF-Freeze Blade)
- The first chapter's elemental gates will match the Skylanders that come with the starter pack.
- Reposes of Spyro, Gill Grunt, Trigger Happy, Eruptor, Prism Break and/or Terrafin, Cynder and/or Chop Chop, Whirlwind and Stealth Elf.

I've said my piece. I understand who the series is for, and don't expect or ask for anything beyond that.

1. Patches
2. Daily bonuses/rewards to encourage playing daily, can be special hats or bonus gold, whatever. Like F2P games. apparently something similar is on the PS4 version of SF.
3. Shorter levels, but more of them.
4. Online multi-player and better multi-player experience - i.e. don't tether me to my wife. If one of us gets to a cut scene or too far ahead, then teleport the other one.
5. Rewards for multi-play throughs. Not just portal master rankings. Show me something or give me something to help push me forward.
6. Side games like those released on the iPad, built in or offered as DLC Not as PART of the game, but just help me use my figures in more creative ways. Do a Skylander's Racer. Skylander Casino. Skylander 'Party' etc.
7. Reposes are fine if all new moves or substantially tweaked.
8. No more 'chase variants'. There is absolutely NO REASON for a variant to not be in game also. If the variant is too gawdy to look good in game, then don't do it in the first place. For how much work goes into getting some of them, you should be properly rewarded by seeing your glow in the dark Whirlwind in game.


Stolen ideas from other users on this forum...
9. Integrated gated areas with fewer actual gates. This was horrible in SF due to Swap gates, dual element gates, and regular gates, ALL on levels that were already way too long.
10. Bank. This could track online as a ranking method too, along with your portal master ranking (which should become more stringent and descriptive of people who play more)

Spyro is never going away lol. He's the main stay in all of this.

I want the levels to be between Giants and Swap Force length.

I want them to make the lightcores all 8 of them as single characters. Instead of a normal bumble blast and then a LC bumble blast.

I want 4 more level packs like SA had. SF had 2 but i like 4.

I want a better Co-Op mode, 4 players, Online. ETC.

PvP mode would be awesome too.

Finally i know they are giving 2 new characters for each like they always do. Here are the repose characters i'd like to see.

Ghost roaster re released and no reposed or stupid gold/silver/flocked variants. Make only figures the fans want and not a few crappy figures idiots pay thousands for just because it's a little different take that time and come up with a better skylander for us to all buy.

Why are there so many people complaining about the chase variants on here? If you don't like them, don't collect them, it's that simple. I don't want to spend that much on them, and since they don't even show up in-game, it doesn't even feel like my collection is lacking by not having them.
