Half of my Portal rank stars disappeared [CLOSED]

When I beat chapter 7 I earned a star and it showed portal rank of 7 .i was confused because I was at rank 14 .so I checked under portal master and all my portal/skylander stars disappeared on me smilie dose anyone know how to fix this ?

Under skylanders in collection menu it still shows all of them but in portal master menu on portal all the skylander stars are gone smilie

If this is a corrupt data thing (the game does save REALLY often) I'm going to start backing up my save games to a USB drive regardless of the system. I am past chapter 7 myself on the Wii U with level 39.

Sighs I decided to delete my save files and start over I really want to keep playing and I don't wanna go further and have to start over from there smilie least I can try 100 percent the levels till I get where i was

I had the same problem. Called Activision support after I turned the game on and off and tried to see if I could take ownership of my figures but their was no option. Sucks having to delete your files and lose all that progress.

Yeah, you cant gain ownership again without totally wiping everything. Once their scanned the

option totally goes away. Poor planning i say. Luckily for me the first thing i did was scan all my stuff

so i found the problem early on. But the problem still remains where if anyone scans in a new

character on their profile, instead of mine, i wont be able to use that character for my collection.

Yeah, that part sucks... I find it odd though they "forgot to add that for the Wii U version only".

This might be due to the fact that Nintendo has a different ID system than Sony or Microsoft.

Did this happen to you also after beating level 7? Level 7 is the next level I have to do and now I'm a bit nervous.

Wombat, it happened to me after I beat chapter 5. On my new file I made it hasn't happened yet *knock on wood* and I'm about to go into level 10. It seems it doesn't happen to everyone playing on the Wii U and seems to only affect people playing on the Wii U from what I've seen on here.

Okay, thanks. I am playing on the Wii U, hopefully it won't happen, but I least I know I can play the next level. I hope someone figures out what triggers this.

This talk of corruption sounds like certain platforms were not tested. I'll back mine up, but if this is the case they are REALLY killing the enjoyment here--If my experience with my platform is negative I'll bow out for the rest of the year, cause not testing/fixing big bugs like this will cause this customer to stop the franchise.

Call them back and hold them accountable. Seriously---"turn the game off". Activision --- you suck.

I wouldn't be half worried if they at least had a patch system in place...but nnnoooooo....

Yea it upset me a lot and took a while to scan all my 85 figures and magic pices in and playing catch up now only on level 3 hopefuly it don't happen to me again nock on wood I'm kinda nervous and scared but still trying just to enjoy my fav game

no not the stars but my hats selection screen was missing the pics of the hats I haven't checked on it so im not sure if they are permanently gone.

MegaDozer the hat pictures disappearing always happens to me when I play for extended periods. It does not seem to affect anything whatsoever.

As for whether the Wii U version has a major gamebreaking save glitch, I'm Portal Master rank 45 now on the Wii U up to chapter 12 and I haven't had any issues, but I'm going to back up my saves to a USB drive once in a while. In fact, save games being corrupt is a problem that can happen to any game and has happened to me (VERY RARELY) in the past with other games, so usually I make two copies of save games on any game I play if I can. It's good to try to do that even if nobody has reported issues.

Friendzie thanks a lot for giving me link to how to back up my files to USB I do it now after each level just in case smilie so if anyone's worried about what happened to me happening to them just make sure you back up your files so just in case if it dose it won't be a big deal smilie

I am on ps3 and I cant do ownership between two accounts as well. Unless its somewhere else I didn't check. They did a poor job with this one

Another WiiU corrupted save here. We were up to portal master rank 21. Now stuck at 10 (load game menu) or 11 (in game info). At least the total us right! Can no longer access anything from higher ranks (hats in store). Frustratingly the collection info is fine, just not the accolades.

Also moticed a few 3rd stars show in details but not on replay mission screen.

Seems like all the info is there if VV were to patch the game. Not sure how long to wait though.

Bleh.

Please document what you did prior to the problem and what the problem is. PS3 and Xbox will be my primary playing systems.

I haven't had any problems with this as of now, and I've been playing the Wii U version for about 20 hours now (and beat it too). But for now, I'm gonna wait it out and see if Activision comes out with a fix or patch for this glitch (shame, I really want to try out my new Hoot Loop). I'd recommend telling Activision about this, even if you don't have a Wii U or have experienced this glitch. Same thing for those disappearing icons in the menus.

What's REALLY support to do here...unless they can refer you to a procedure APART from the game that can change behavior--isn't this simply a bug in the game?

I'd really like for them to communicate:
1. Use cases that allow stars to be removed
2. Is there a system procedure or best practice that can eliminate or reduce problem?

Other than that, we're just going to dance around the Mindfield of bugs. I'm sad there's been more talk of bugs than actual gameplay. It's really dampening my potential enjoyment (once I play it that is).

The perception that this game has a minefield of bugs is just wrong. A few people have had issues that involved freezing or save games getting corrupted, but most of that was some issue with the Wii, and as for the Wii U the problem can be averted completely just by backing up your save games, and I reckon most people haven't had corrupted save data in the first place. If I didn't visit this forum I wouldn't even know the game had any bugs at all.

Wait so if i play swap forc eon the wii u it wont count them on the xbox? or if i play them on the xbox first it wont count them onn the wii u? Please explain this as I finally got to start playing tonight on my xbox with my son...on lvl 3 so far. Loving this game.

I was just in chapter 7 at time and earned a star and it showed my rank was 7 not 14 that's how I found out about it I used miiverse like 3 times that play time so just cus I'm nervous I'm not using the home menu at all now during play time but i back up all my saves to a USB stick and so far no problem and in level 17 now n on chapter 10

Issue has to do with changing settings from the main menu causing a global save under certain conditions. Global save with nothing loaded means your accolades get trashed. Avoid that (you can change settings from in game start menu) and that should prevent the (currently known) issue until VV can patch.

Hello All,

Sorry to hear that this is occurring for you guys. I was able to assist another player that was having a similar issue. It was determined that after completing the next level and returning back to Woodburrow, they were able to get there proper rank back.

I know you stated that had you started over Rezil, but should this occur for you again at chapter 7, attempt to keep playing and get to the next chapter and see if that clears up the matter. In the mean time, I will continue to gather data and monitor this issue.

Mellified_Man, how did you figure that out? Were you able to get it to happen again doing that? My rank went from 41 down to 32 and lost all the stars related to my collection.

After hitting this bug I went back to playing on the PS3. Mucked around with this some after thinking about what I'd done before it happened. I'd gone into the settings and set "Gamepad Only" from the main menu after leaving it sitting for a while.

So, as long as you don't change the settings from the main menu, you'll be OK? I'm planning to replay the game on my Wii U in a month or two and I'd like to get to that max rank, so fingers crossed...

Still, that's very annoying as I liked to set my Wii U to GamePad play through the main menu in Giants(I keep it in my room most of the time, which has no TV, so I need to stick to the GamePad). Sigh. Guess I'll need to go into the game now.

What are you guys referring to...a menu option in the game or game system menu and which platforms?

First, let me state nothing I'm telling you is definitive, just my observations mucking around.

On the Wii U if you let the game sit at the main menu for a while then go in and edit options (change volume, turn on subtitles, or - most likely with the Wii U - change the GamePad mode) it seems to trigger a save that wipes some of your Portal Master accolades.

My suggestion is to wait for a patch, but I have the luxury of playing on the PS3 in the mean time. From what I can see all the data to re-create your Portal Master accolades is still there so a patch should be able to restore missing Portal Master stars. Don't delete your saves!

I doubt we will see a patch. They never fixed a problem in SSA PS3/360/PC where you could not finish smilie's Heroic without a very annoying workaround. I doubt we're going to see a patch for this since it just locks you out of hats, though, here's hoping...

I won't buy another Skylanders game that won't release patches for bugs (I'm not talking about platforms that don't support it). I'm thinking about halting purchases on this one until I hear what they are planning on supporting those who have already spent hundreds just on this new entry.

The Wii won't get patched because Nintendo didn't build in a way to patch. Original (and Gians) were originally Wii games. Now VV has a vested interest in the other consoles. I expect they're working on a patch. I noticed my Wii U copy already downloaded a patch when I first played.
