Toad Town, Mushroom Kingdom

It is a relatively peaceful day in the Mushroom Kingdom, like any other, aside from the monthly princess kidnappings orchestrated by the Dragon-Koopa to the north. Of course, the denizens have learned to ignore him, as they know Mario and Luigi will put a stop to everything. After all, good always triumphs over and evil, and all that jazz. But that's beside the point. This is not a story of heroes rescuing a damsel. It is a story of average, normal humans going on a grand adventure!

"Hey, you're here too?!" DragonCamo, garbed in a French maid's outfit, gasps in shock as he noticed several cohorts of his. "I haven't seen any of you guys since the island!" He remarks, referring to a strange competition he and the others once partook in. He is met with stifled giggles. "What's the problem?"

"It's your outfit." Seiki chuckles. "What, did you run out of clean laundry or something?" He asks with a childish grin plastered on his face.

"Oh..." DragonCamo looks down and realizes he is wearing the maid's outfit. His face flushes crimson. "Th-This isn't what it looks like."

"Of course it isn't." CommanderGame scoffs.

"N-No, really!" DragonCamo protests. "That idiot HIR had us all competing on King Koopa's private luxury island! He stuck me with the bill when I won and fled. I didn't have that kind of money. So I've been..." He looks downcast, "Ugh, working off the bill. You have no idea the stuff I've had to do. The things I've seen!" He shivers.

"It's true." Sparxis pipes up. "I was there."

"This sounds juicy. I want all the details." Pika speaks up, his voice dripping with gossipy intent.

"Answer my question first." DragonCamo retorts. "Why are you all here? There some sort of reunion?"

"We all got these letters." HDAZ exclaims, pulling out a piece of red parchment. DragonCamo's eyes widen.

"No way! I got one of those letters too." He gasps. "It told me to be at Toad Town's fountain. And it was signed, rather crudely, by HIR!" DragonCamo was about to continue speaking when footsteps caught his attention. He turned around to see a group of 9 approaching him. He immediately recognizes one of them. "Yo, Bravo! What's going on here?"

"Who are those creeps?" One of the people behind Bravo interjects. Bravo puts up a hand, silencing him.

"They were the guys I competed against on the island." Bravo replies.

"Wait, there was another competition?" DummyZ questions in complete shock.

"Oh yeah, I guess I forgot to mention that one... heh... heh..." Seiki responds, trailing off with nervous laughter.

"Yup. And you are looking at the winner!" Bravo smugly continues.

"Wait, so a bunch of contestants from these competitions are together?" Underian speaks up in a shaky voice. "Don't tell me... you guys received letters from some 'HIR' person?" The group of islanders nod.

"Whoa, dat's some creepy shizz, yo." Morrises remarks in an awful Brooklyn accent that causes several to cringe.

"Why do you think we're all supposed to be here?" Ash ponders aloud. Before anyone can respond, the thunderous roar of jet engines drown out any noise and the large group is immediately overtaken by a massive shadow.

They all immediately look up to see a massive UFO emblazoned with an emblem of green flames hovering over them. "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" HD542 lets out a terrified shriek as the center of the UFO's underside opens up, revealing a massive glowing swirl of energy.

"I'm getting out of here!" BrutalBash screams as he tries to book it. A tendril of energy shoots out from the UFO's core and blasts BrutalBash, and he instantly disappears in a brilliant flash of light. The others immediately lapse into a chorus of panicked shouts as they begin running around in utter panic. The core glows even brighter and energy tendrils start shooting out in all directions.

"Yo, I don't wanna be abducted by no aliens." Morrises cries. "I hear dey do stuff to ya, dawg. Like... like... anal probing!"

"Eww, you have a sick mind." Paris groans, as an energy tendril whizzes over his head. "AIYEEEEEEEEEE! GET ME OUTTA HERE!" He screams before a second energy tendril zaps him and he vanishes. The energy tendrils quickly become more accurate, vaporizing the group members one by one.

"With my last breath, I CURSE ZOIDBERG!" Rand shouts in anger before being vaporized by a tendril. The ground is now clear of any people. The UFO's core dims, and retracts into the main part of the machine. The UFO vanishes into the bright blue sky, without being detected by anyone.

Every 3rd season should be like a Quarter Quell. Season 3, 6, 9 etc, are All-Stars from the previous 2 seasons.

Every 12th season is winner's All-Star. Having the winners from the past 12 seasons competeing against each other.

I want to host sometime again. That was fun.

Somewhere in the Phylax Nebula...

Slambam is thankfully able to open his eyes. He takes a deep breath and breaths out a sigh of relief. "Oh... praise the stars. I'm alive!" He squeaks, choking back a tear of joy. He quickly takes a look at his surroundings. He finds that he is in a large, vast room floating above a seemingly bottomless pit. He is atop a translucent cube with the same 8 people he came to the fountain with. He looks across the massive space and sees bright white cubes of all sizes floating around. Across the way is another large translucent cube. It is carrying the 9 people that Slambam had met at the fountain.

"Ah... what happened?! Where are we?" Slambam turns around to see somePerson awake, eyes wide open in astonishment. "Th-This is definitely a bad trip." He looks at Slambam. "Somebody slipped us all the same bad batch of acid, and we're just tripping out of minds." He gets on his knees and slides over to Slambam and concludes with teary eyes, "That makes sense, right?" He laughs nervously.

The other members of their party slowly start to stir, as do their cohorts on the other cube. "W-What in the-?" Bravo finds himself at a loss for words as he tries to take in his surroundings.

"Where have we been taken?" Crystalhero cries. "I want to go home!" She tears up slightly.

"Just stay... uh... calm." DummyZ gulps. "Surely there's some way out of this."

"Ah ah ahh ahhh ahhhhh! I am afraid ze anzer to zat is 'no!'" A distinctly male, Slavic voice cackles in response.

"ZOINKS! That didn't sound friendly." Underian squeaks in surprise. A tiny buzzing noise catches everyone's attentions and they look out to see a small webcam, piloted by tiny helicopter blades, sputter down in between the two cubes.

"Velcome, my distinguished vic-... I mean, guests!" The Slavic voice echoes from within the webcam. "Hang on, somezing is vrong here." An awkward silence immediately ensues and everyone looks toward one another in confusion. "Ah, jes. Zere is no proper musik for my dramatic introduction. Ve should fix zat!" The voice explains, before being overtaken by loud static.

"Ahhh ahhh ahhh ahhh ahhhhhh!" The voice laughs. "Zat is much better, no?"

"Why do you laugh like the Count from Sesame Street? That's not exactly very intimidating." Pika sneers.

"SILENZE!" The voice cries. "You are in no posizion to be making such remarks. For it is I who vill control jour fates. Ahh ahh ahhhhhhh!" It adds.

"So I take it that you're responsible for abducting us?" Seiki deduces, his hands impatiently on his hips.

"Jes, zat is correct!" The voice enthusiastically responds. "Jou are here for a grand test of my design."

"Oh yeah, and what if we choose not to participate?" Bravo venomously hisses.

"Ahhhhh ahhhhhhh ahhhhhhhh ahhhhhhhhhh! Ve bozz know zat vill not happen." The voice confidently retorts. "After all, to do so vould be to gamble vit jour lives." As soon as it finished that statement, the section of the cube that Bravo is standing on falls away and he jumps back in fright. "I might not know humans very vell. But vhen faced vit certain deazssss, zey vill do vhatever it is taking to save zeir own hides!"

"Grr... I want off this place." Bravo sneers.

"Ze only vay to do zat is to outlast jour little friends." The voice explains. "Let us begin vit a simple game. It vill show to me who of jou is selfish and who of jou is a team player. For ze ones vit success, zey vill have easier time zan za vones vit lesh success. Ahhhh ahhh ahhh!" It continues, its laughing sending shivers down everyone's spines.

HDAZ gulps. "I've got a very bad feeling about this."

It is now Day 1!

Oh no, a sports-related term in MY trivia game?! THE HORROR. Nah, I'm just trying to be clever. The theme of today's challenge is all about being first. Questions will have something to do with the concept of "first." As the name suggests, there will be 10 questions. Please try to submit answers via PM with the subject line "Day 1, Question #." Here's the catch. I will only accept the FIRST PMs I receive from each team. Even if it has NOTHING to do with the question that I ask.
