I think my hair is actually turning me into a boring person. People ask me before dances and dates what I'm going to do with it and I'm just like "I can DO STUFF with it?"

I have naturally wavy honey-blonde hair. Half the time I'm too lazy to straighten it for school.

I do it to make myself look neater, as my hair gets really poofy and it just looks messy like that for me.

Messy hair = Great ammo for peers to use.

Don't be so down on yourself for your hair! I'm sure it looks really pretty like that.

Well at my school our hair has to look modest and clean
When my hair is short I need to straighten it

But now I don't cause my hair is longer and looks prettier (I'm just going off of what my friends and random strangers say Mkay)

Well you know, when you have curly hair, you sometimes get called a freak for ten years straight, so you sometimes straighten your hair to feel better about yourself.

Nope, just a town that's overpopulated by teenaged d-bags that are encouraged by their parents to drink alcohol. Oh, did I mention that they're incredibly sexist?

EDIT: Let me rephrase that...

Nope, I just live in Canada.

Same here. I've lived in both, and no matter where you are, there's a degree of narrow-mindedness. I'm just thankful people here are at least pounded with ideals of morality, even if some of it is narrow-minded too...

I straightened my hair a lot for about a year. I don't do it any more as it gave me a load of split ends and damaged my hair. I had to have 4 inches of it cut off. Wasn't happy.

I remember being called a poodle in year 7, by a guy with a shaved afro. Stupid nob head. His hair is curlier than mine.

My mother wouldn't let me have straighteners for years, for that reason people had an 'excuse' to say things.

not really, if she keeps doing it what happened to mine will happen to her. SAVE YOUR HAIR WHILE YOU STILL CAN. It's fine to do it every now and then, just not all the time.

Curly hair looks better anyway, it creates volume which gives your head a better shape. This makes you look prettier.

Actually, no. It depends on how your hair is to how much it damages it, or if it even damages it at all.
See, my hair is very thin, but I have a TON of it. It's very frizzy, and wavy.. but just a bit curly.
I wash my hair every other day (Last night I did, today I won't, tomorrow I will. a pattern.), I brush it out everyday so there are no knots in it. Also, when I wash it, I condition it. I let the conditioner settle in while I do the rest of the washing in the shower, then I wash the conditioner out.

I've seen how curly your hair is, Ice. It's WAYY too curly to be straightened. It also depends on what heat setting you had the iron on for, and how long you held it in one place on your hair.

I've straightened mine many times, and my hair is still very healthy and lush. Many people comment on how pretty and soft my hair is. smilie

If I where you, Ice, I'd go to a hair stylist if you really want to calm down those curls, and ask what the best way is to keep your hair calm and/or straight.

this was my reaction, in a long story short form.

The thing she needs to understand is, she needs to learn how to use it from an experienced person before she goes and actually uses it.

Apparently, when she used it, she had no experience at all and she ****ed her hair up. I'm surprised her parents didn't notice. smilie

My hair isn't that curly. May have looked curlier in photos than it actually is. It doesn't knot. It's only frizzy if I sleep on it wrong.
It goes straight fine. The heat from them will damage anyone's hair.
If you look at people who have used them lots (like everyday like I did at one point) you'll see how it's thinner at the bottom than at the top. I was using them correctly. Other people just wouldn't have had theirs cut off.

I don't want straight hair now anyway, I like my curls. I don't think straight hair suits me as much.

And to keep my hair calm all I need to do is put a bit of water on it any it gets rid of the slight frizz from sleeping on it. Don't need a stylist at all. :/

is that about me? I was told how to do it by several people, one who still does it has shocking hair now. MUCH worse than what mine was.
And if that was about me my mother was the one who made me cut it, I didn't think it needed cutting off that much.

I didn't understand a majority of your post, but if people tell you to do it, don't listen to them.
They where obviously trying to make you feel bad and guilt you into doing it.

It's what happened to me when I was younger and I tried to change my looks, ect.
