So my parents are getting a divorce because my mom and I "aren't good enough" for my dad.

Anyone have any ideas of coping? I really don't know what to do...

Well, if anything your dad (no offense) sounds pretty mean and I think your mom can do better.

Well, who knows? Maybe life with your mom and potentially a stepfather would be greater than what you previously had. If I'm not mistaken, the child can decide which parent they'd prefer living with, right? This may be something positive.

Coming from one divorcee to another, the best thing to do is not to worry about it until it's your time to decide.

Kids over 13 can decide which parent they'd rather live with. Until it's time, just try your best not to worry about it.

I'm really sorry you're going through this. It's a shame your Dad would even say you and your Mom aren't good enough. Just remember it's not your fault, okay? Also, when your parents are arguing if you can, leave the area that they are in. Arguments can get really heated and a lot of hurtful words can and will be said. To cope with this, just try to be strong and try not to take sides. I know it's not much help, but you can always talk to your friends, and I'll listen if you need someone to talk to or even vent.

I'm really sorry about that, my parents are divorced, but they've been divorced since I was two months old, so I really Dont know what to tell you. But, if you mom ever starts dating, give the guy a chance, my step dad is graet and truly cares about us. Just hang in there, this topic actually made me cry, thinking about my dad, its been over a year since I've seen him and I really miss him. I don't know why, I hardly know him really, but he's still my dad.(TMI) if you ever need to talk, I'm here.

when my parents got a divorce my dad drank him self to death...
so i would say "always love your father", because you don't know how long he has on the earth
