When do you delete people that aren't gifting back? I have been deleting them after 5 unreturned gifts. Most of these people have been on in the last 24 hours and just don't gift. How long do you wait?

Yer I generally keep them if they give back about 25% or more e.g. a 5 to 20 i would keep but a none to 10 ratio I would delete.
Some of them even come to my island to collect their stuff from visiting and still never send anything.

I keep a list of anyone that has five or more missing gifts. I look at them for a couple days more to see if they start gifting again (I figure things come up in real life and not everyone is going to be able to be 100%). I delete them at around 7 or 8 misses if there is no more activity from them.

It is odd to see a lot of people that do the visits but don't gift. Gifting takes one click and its done, unlike visiting, which takes forever to load each person's islands. To each his own, I guess.

Actually i thought the same thing about visits vs gifts too until one day my child was opening my gifts and expressed annoyance that our friends werent sending us gems and were mean for not sharing. The penny dropped and i realised that perhaps some people dont gift because they think the gift comes out of their "bank".
Cant assume everyone is an adult or has a total grip on the game dynamics. So i am far more tolerant now and i gift regardless even if i see they visit or have logged on.

I've been mulling this over -- Aemi's post gave me pause. But I think what I'm going to do is keep everyone until my list is full (I'm around 85 now), and then start removing/replacing those who don't gift on a least a semi-regular basis. I mean, I have a couple people on there who've sent one gift to me, but have received 16 -- that's pretty ridiculous.

I think the main problem is the wording. "Gifts" are actually not gifts. You don't lose anything by gifting in the game except for the time of tapping once on a button. As long as people think they would lose gems or gold or energy by giving gifts to others, the tapping will not be done.
