The PC version [CLOSED]

I wonder why this version doesn't get more love. Is it because a lot of people don't have the requirements? Or would rather just play with a TV?

I... Okay, in retrospect this is actually a bad question because a lot of the Skylanders fandom probably just don't have gaming-optimum PCs or prefer their main console. Still, I played the Wii and 360 versions and liked neither, but the PC one actually convinced me to enjoy the game. Maybe it's just the fact that I haven't played it in a bit or just because it's on frikin PC, which makes an epic gaming console. Also...

Those graphics. My god those graphics look gorgeous, daw jropping, and beautiful all rolled into one ball of something at the maximum settings. They still blew me away when I unknowingly had the shadow graphics option at low resolution!

Anyway, I just think that the PC version deserved more sales. I would have loved to see Giants on PC.

Does anyone else play it?

Piracy and it was plagued with bugs but the real reason is profit. It didnt sell well in PC so no point for them wasting time and resources to produce it again for PC.

Dude, everyone knows that bit. I was asking why the PC version of SA is so ignored, not why Giants didn't get one. smilie
Bugs? I haven't encountered any more bugs than on the Wii version...

i think they did not make a PC version for Giants because they were scared that people would start finding ways to unlock Skylanders without buying them.
i mean doing such is much easier on a PC then on consoles.
anyways, now im thinking about how cool it would be to see mods for this game

Yeah, I hated that, that because I was on the XBox I had no access to the Wii's hat, or the PS3's hat, or the PC's hat, etc. etc. But all the exclusives are available in Giants to everybody, so that's not much..

Weird though, I never saw a PC version anyway. Not like I truly LOOKED, but still... Is it the same thing as the console versions? Or like 3DS's? Or does it have it's own levels and challenges and such?

It's the console version. With its own hat.

None of the console exclusive hats were any good, though. They all had the same buff, +2 to Armor and +2 to Critical Hit.

Well, actually, like the Wii VS PS360 versions it does have its own changes. I can't remember the 360 changes because I sold my copy a while ago, so I'm not sure how it matches up to them, but I do know a few so far. I'm only at Treetop Terrace at the moment but if I recall right I heard that that Lair of Kaos is more similar to the Wii version of the level.
  • Wooden wall pieces are knocked down individually. When you see a wooden fence you need to knock down you'll just break down the individual planks that you attack.
  • Almost all of the health restoring food gets replaced by just drumsticks.
  • Like PS360 Persephone is stationery in the Ruins.
  • Some general new HUD textures like the numbers of damage you deal being in an exclamation bubble. Evil X Minions have a Health bar, but the number of their Health stat isn't displayed.
  • Dynamic soundtrack is changed a bit(or didn't load properly...).

Does the PC version have a wired or wireless portal? Does the PC version support the Xbox 360 gamepad?

Thanks in advance.

I've got the PC version running with the wired xbox360 controller from the original xbox360 console. Connected the controller, started the game and set the controller / button configuration.

I have the PC version also. I've yet to even install it but will probably get around to it this weekend. Mainly cause PC is about the only platform I'll go back and play a game years down the line.

I think it was because it was because the publishers were scared that too many people would unlock additional Skylanders without paying for them. And there are system requirements that would make the game unable to run on an old everyday computer. I really hope they decide to go back to PC one day.

I'd totally give this a go because it'd be interesting to play it again for one and also interesting to play it on a different platform. smilie

(For those with a PS3 wireless portal, you can just plug your tiny USB wireless receiver into your computer instead of your PS3 and it should work...that's what I did for Universe, anyway, after I'd installed the portal drivers.)

I think a big part of it is you just haven't played in a while. I also learned to like the console Spyro's Adventure over time. It took a while, but the game grew on me. Once you actually have all your characters fully upgraded, the game becomes a lot more enjoyable. Also the shorter levels and more difficult bosses compared to Skylanders Giants are a big boost in the game's favor, there's a lot less of Flynn, which is always a good thing if ask me, and also Hugo is in it a lot more than Giants, which is also a good thing. (Always really liked Hugo)
