i agree with you but on the other side of the coin, if a movie fails to represent a group of people, it's deemed sexist/racist

i really hate how toxic everything is right now, you can't like or dislike a movie without being labled as something. personally, i'm tired of it. people can like and dislike what they want to.

Mhm. I completely agree. It wasn't really an accusation, but I think someone misunderstood me and thought I was racist because I didn't want to watch OITNB. I don't want to watch it because I hear that it's got some pretty explicit scenes, but she thought I didn't want to watch it "because it was a black show"?
If I don't like a show that just happens to have black people in it, I'm racist.

Same goes for everything though. Don't like the new Ghostbusters? You're sexist. Don't want to watch Sense8 (or whatever it's called)? You're homophobic.

Not only balancing, there's also
-The "reworks" that have only made characters less fun and unique and frustrating
-Replacing an OP ability with an ever MORE OP ability under the guise of "you have to aim now so it's harder"
-This whole "We're not going to address the awful community, we're just gonna talk about the awesome people in the community and reward them for being great because those exist, right?"
-The constant and continual ignoring of the community and the devs looking too much into statistics instead of player enjoyment
-Blizzards INSANE ego, never admitting fault about anything, saying that everything they've done has worked and "did what they wanted", and acting like nothing is wrong with their game
-The convoluted, self-contradicting story and lore they're piecing together as they go on, ignoring characters (coughdvacough), changing the story willy nilly, and their lack of good story telling in the slightest of sense, like telling us this character is mysterious and is secretive and careful about everything she does and how we'll never learn her name, but then the next two "comics" they release destroy her whole image by claiming that 3 characters knows EXACTLY what she's doing, and two other characters knowing what her real name and background is.

nancy drew is becmong LBGTQ friendly, while i dont care in the slightest about the LBGTQ part, i do care that theyre changing characters.

i really feel like nobody can create anything original anymore, i mean if you want to make an upper middle class detective with a gay friend with a black girlfriend, then more power to you. i just don't get why you need to change what has already been established.

representation is not a good excuse, you can easily represent a group of people by making your own original characters. hell, they could have added an openly gay character to the nancy drew universe without changing anything thats been established.

again, im not trying to be homophobic/transphobic. i love my gay/trans friends to pieces, but i just dont feel the need to change something so drastically.

And don't worry Paris, I agree with you 100%, and I actually do complain about this kind of stuff in real life a lot as well. I don't find anything that you've said to be offensive/homophobic at all, but I'm not trans so I can't comment on that one.

I hate the trend of reviving older franchises only for them to completely change everything about it. Why use this series for your ideas if you have to change so many things about the universe that it almost becomes unrecognisable.
As you said Paris, make up your own original story if you want to show representation, and stop changing everything to fit your desires.

Ugh, it really annoys me too, so don't worry. I want to see more original stories, and not all of these revivals/reboots/wherever where they take an old story and completely rehaul everything just to pander to today's audience. Just make something new!

I have lots of thoughts on this, but it's hard to articulate them right now.
