true but they all do the same thing in the end. if someone really feels it should be added and can give me an elaborate list as well as how there different, try me. (by how there different i mean like are any exactly the same so they would not need to be listed more then once?)

quick question - what was release first: Clear Cynder or Metallic Cynder ?

Metallic cynder was released first but I would count the 3DS and Bluetooth portals separately

To all you kids out there who's parents are in a position to give all the figures to you. Without the variants you're looking at over $1200 in skylanders. Remember that next time they can't get something for you.

put the Cynders in the right order.
if anyones wondering how i do order, i first to series 1, then series 2, then lightcore. then i start on in game varients. then out game varients. as for general order, i allways start with the dragons, then ones that come in a starter pack, then adventure pack, then lastley i go by triple pack letter.

im just going to leave the portal section the way it is. unless someone can give me a detailed list of them all.

im waiting till we get more info on that sonic boom varient before adding him. hopefully at the very least someone from hear will buy it and confirm that it shows up as special (but what if its a custom job on a glow sonic? but then there not out yet anyway.)

also dont forget to post reminders for me when more new varients come out.

The PS3 and Wii Portals were the exact same, and can work on either system
the Xbox360 portal was different and worked only on itself
3DS portal is smaller, works on bluetooth, and has a little green triangle on the top that you point the 3DS at.

[User Posted Image]

The 3DS portal is the one that's lower down, for example

iOS pack will come with a Bluetooth portal. The 3DS one uses infra red since the 3DS itself can't use bluetooth.

Also I believe the iOS portal will be the regular size since you use 2 skylanders at a time.

I have seen two Sparkle Hot Heads on EBay so far.

i see you listed all the 3ds portals but why stop there? the 360 ps3 and wii all have differnt portals dont they? and then i believe there was a pc portal, and wired version of other portals. also wernt some consol portals the same? i just have no idea how to make up a list of all portals for all games.
Nibelilt Ripto Gems: 401
#27 Posted: 07:36:15 25/11/2012
For SA:
Wii Portal
PS3 Portal
Wired Portal

The only difference was writing underneath- I believe the three variations were Portal of Power for Nintendo Wii, Portal of Power for PlayStation 3, and Portal of Power(no console specified, just for 360/PC).

I just wanted to say, I have the same exact tool box which I bought from Walmart. I originally used it to store my HeroClix figures to bring over friend's houses and local venues / tournaments, but now I use it to store Skylanders, LOL. It's an awesome tool box. I never thought about storing Portals in there, that's a good idea.

Portals should very much be part of the collection, just like variants are. There are three styles of portals now.

1 lightup green base with lightup symbols
1 seethrough base with no lightup symbols
1 GITD portal

If chase variants are included, but do nothing different, portals should count despite not doing anything different. Variants are variants, and there are three styles of portals, just like there are styles of variants.

I also include things with unique UPC's as part of the collection as well. Things like Target Whirlwind and Walmart/Sams Drill Sergeant or TRU Darklight Crypt. Variant UPC's. smilie

if you seen my list 3 days ago, there were 3 Portals under my Portal section. and those were them. buttttt no one seemed to like that section so i got rid of it.
i only play skylanders on my xbox currently, so i dont have any knowledge of any other portals other then those 3.

as for the unique UPC's, i think your the only one who counts them as variants (not that theirs anything wrong with that)
by the way, i think Castle Wham-Shell had a unique UPC to.

not sure what your asking.
all skylanders in () are NOT in-game variants

or are you asking if the Double Trouble that came with the Battlegrounds pack is the one on my list called "Battlegrounds Double Trouble"
not sure how thats confusing...

Some nitpicks...

  1. Lightcore are Series 1 characters since they don't switch paths or have WoWPows. The 3DS version of Giants even lists them this way.
  2. I think you should note the series for more of the Skylanders. For example, "(Battlegrounds Double Trouble)" is an S2 character in the S1 pose, but your list is ambiguous.
  3. You list "(Glow Sonic Boom)", which is noted in console versions of Giants as "Special Sonic Boom" and increases the count. "(Glow Warnado)" appears as a standard Series 1 figure though. Your list makes no distinction.
  4. Is there an order to your list? Why not alphabetical by element, then alpha by "main" character?

1. Lightcores are different in game. most notable difference is there "Light Bomb" attack. they have every reason to not be in ()
2. agree with this and have been thinking about it for a while. but sort of wanted to keep this as simple check list.
3. i could be wrong but, (using your example) Glow Warnado would increase the count, cuz even doubles of any skylander would increase the count in Giants.
counting variants that show up as "Special" as "different in game" i do not think is a good idea. but agree that it would be a good idea to mark off which ones Do and Dont appear Special. again i was aiming to just make a check list, not really get into technicalities
4. and yea my order could be better. but my elemental order is the order of weak to strong

EDIT: also been thinking of giving Location Pieces there own group

Here's my list. Each element is broken into Series 1 / Series 2 / New Series 2 / Giants. Most of the formatting didn't come with it but you get the idea.

i do like that list, its very well thought out.
but i do think your missing 3 skylanders tho.
i counted quick so i might be wrong, I believe the total should come to 157

Edit: Missing the Employee Prism Break and Glow Zap. i think there one more also
and White Prism Break is LightCore, might want to add that

I don't have a Glow Warnado, so I'm not sure how it is handled. However, I have 3 entries for Flameslinger:

  1. Series 1 Flameslinger
  2. Series 2 Flameslinger
  3. Special Flameslinger

The last is, of course, the Amazon Gold S2 Flameslinger.

In contrast, Red S1 Drill Sergeant, S1 Drill Sergeant, and S2 Drill Sergeant only yield 2 entries in "Collections".

To me any character that gets its own entry in "Collections" is a worthy checklist item (I didn't include the S1 variants in my list initially for this reason!). Using that logic yields six classes:

  • Series 1
  • Series 1 Variants (special case, since they're not tracked separately in game)
  • LightCore
  • Series 2
  • Special (which are all S2 for now, but I wonder what'll happen with the next Skylanders game....)
  • In-game Variants (Royal Double Trouble, Gnarly Tree Wrex, etc.)

This is the HTML version of my checklist, which even has nice checklist boxes. I use Evernote to maintain / edit it. Not sure how it'll show up in browsers.

EDIT - Thanks for the heads up. I fixed a few missing entries, noted the total for each group, and added a "**" to those Skylanders with variants that are NOT tracked in Collections.

EDIT - Fixed a few typos, clarified some names.
