Why are regular Sidekicks so expensive? They don't even do anything? I just want smilie, smilie, and smilie for a complete S:SA collection. (Base 32 + 4 Sidekicks)

This is pretty neat. I was browsing the Skylanders reddit and happened across this:

It's an unpainted Prism Break prototype from Feb 2011. According to the user who posted it, he says he was given it when he left Activision after working on the first game.

Really appreciate you posting this spyroflame0487! I commented on his image and hope to have him join this thread for further information and to chat about protos...

EDIT: Looks like he may join our discussion when he gets some more time... Until then, check out his pic of an RFID within the base. We'll have to find out if it's simply a "normal" PB in game?

^ They sold for $200! I told the guy that they aren't one of a kind (He said in the description), and he gave me a really nasty response.

It is a real Unpainted Activision Factory sample. Not necessarily a prototype by this thread's definition. It did come from China, as it was initially purchased from Glumby01 (the original buyer of the lot of prototypes).

You should buy it if you think it's right for you. I have one and enjoy it, but it all comes down to your interest in this. There are a handful of these floating around, just so you know...

In fairness to the seller, he shelled out alot of $$$ for the protos he bought from Glumby01 and they were advertised as Prototypes when he bought them.

The price he has now is fairly reasonable.

Received confirmation that the "Jade" Prism Break proto (that's what I'm calling it), is not only authentic, but predictably an early Activision proto developed in the beginning of 2011.

This was the response from TFB:

Not sure how many were made, but probably very few.


Pretty sweet IMO. As posted previously, it even has it's own RFID chip!

I guess I didn't make the connection before that Matteomax's Ninjini was confirmed by TFB to be a prototype.

So this would be a toy that was sent back to us from the factory and we gave feedback to make changes prior to the final toys being created.


Sounds like the pose is the same as what will be released, but the paint job on this one is different.

This is currently up for auction and going for big $$. Interesting to see what happens...

So I'm trying to begin tracking down prototype pics for Skylanders Swap Force.

Since this game is so new, I'm taking a little stab at the prototypes. The lighter colored bases have always been the designated prototype bases in the previous games. For example, a lighter green base = SSA. A lighter orange or yellow base = SG. I believe the lighter blue bases = SSF. I'll correct it if wrong.

You can see the darker blue bases below on multiple figures. I believe these will be the factory released figs.

I've added these two to the first page already...
