Old wii game with new portal? [CLOSED]

Hey guys

Long time lurker, first time poster here. I got a quick question about the backwards compatibility of the new wired portal of power for the wii. Will I be able to use the new portal with the old game and therefore save a wee bit on battery cost?

I have been looking around for this info but haven't managed to find any concrete answers yet so I would be eternally thankful if somebody could shed some light on this matter.

Yes. I tried this the other day when trying to get my Series 2 guys up to level 10. Just plug it in and it'll work just fine!
