I was levelling up my Wham-Shell last night, and found myself wondering why he's as popular as he is. I actually only bought him because he was popular, and I didn't know what to pick as my 3rd Skylander in the 3 for 2 offer. According to the guy who served me, he's the one that people really struggle to find. Is that down to popularity, or did they just not produce as many figures of Wham-Shell? If it's down to popularity, then what is it that makes more seemingly more popular than all other Skylanders?

Personally, I've grown to really like him. The figure itself is heavier than all the other Skylanders I own and I love the shiny/metallic paint job on him. His face is also very amusing. In game, he's ridiculously strong. I picked the mace path for him, and at Level 10 he's just laying waste to everything! He's certainly a very impressive Skylander, but I still like a lot of my other Skylanders a lot more.

So yeah, I'm just wondering why he is that hard to come by. Why a lot of people seem to be searching for him above all other Skylanders. Maybe it is just that they produced fewer of him, or maybe it's because he is just that impressive.

It's because he is insanely hard to find.

So...he's popular because he's hard to find...but then he's hard to find because he's popular?

I guess. Everybody wants to complete their collection you know.

He's pretty good

He's very rare due to scalpers buying him so much, coupled with him being the final Skylander, and having a variant, rather than because of popularity.

The feeling you have when you see your neighbor's Wham-Shell.

Yeah, it sucks.

Wham-Shell is in high demand for several reasons.

a) He's genuinely cool, and has a very nice figure. The other Water elements lack a certain cool factor that Wham-Shell has, so people want him for that.
b) He's a genuinely strong character, and very effective at clearing out a screen of baddies.
c) He's not getting a series 2 figure, so people want to find him before he's gone
d) He was the last Skylander released, so many people were searching him out to finish their collection.
e) From what I've heard, not a lot of Wham-Shell figures were made, meaning he's always restocked in low quantities. Seeing more than one Wham-Shell in a store is a really rare occurrence.
f) because of all of the above factors, scalpers buy them all up and sell them online, creating a continuous cycle of regular consumers never being able to get him when stores restock on him.

So there are a lot of reasons why he's in high demand. Popularity isn't the only reason, but it is a part of it. Wham-Shell IS really cool, and he IS really popular, so I think even without the low supply, he'd still be pretty hard to get.

Ahh, see, I didn't know that he was the last Skylander. I only picked up the game this year, and bought all the characters I wanted in that one go. Since then, I've only ever bought new ones in the 3 for 2.

Now that you mention it, it's strange that he isn't getting a Series 2 release, considering his popularity. I see that he's one of your faves DinoHex, so I hope you didn't have to look too hard to find him.

Ill give you a reason why he is popluar his lookss he creative he has awesome paths and he is rare and you cant say no to a rare thing

Wham-Shell is wicked, regardless of the "rare" factor. He's distinct from the other blue-oriented water Skylanders. His skills are, I think, fairly creative and not parallel to others in the way some Skylanders are. I wish I could think of a good example of that off the top of my head, of two characters with alike abilities (perhaps masked by something minor like a different flashing color).

Wham-Shell was the last one I needed so he waas the only skylander I realy cared about, after I got all of the others.

I just like him because I think he's cool. I like and so much and people think it's just cause they're rare! Not true!

He's kind of overrated, his mace path is only okay.

He's popular cause he was the last skylander too be realeased before giants so once everyone got all of them they realeased him which everyone Ganged up on so he was hard too get

Stupid scampers made me wait a month to find this stupid crab! But at least eBay had a sweet deal compared to the $50 that some go for, I got mine for $18 and it came right on time and I like him a lot so he's not stupid in my eyes anymore

Poisedon Strike does 50 damage per hit and has a gigantic AOE. Several combos of swings can do 60+ each. A, B and Z chains are all useful.

You know where I found MY Wham-Shell...Behind several other characters in a Target. I made a beeline out of there once saw him and nabbed it, if you know what I mean

I think that many forget that quite a few Whammy's fell victim to hiding in TRU Giant castle cases. That with less of the figure being made, makes him rare. I've only seen 3 in stores besides the one I got online - should have bought them!

Found mine at Best Buy sitting on the shelf, then a week later a friend of mine sent me one from a different city's walmart she worked at lol. He is one of my favorites to play, makes me sad he didnt get to be a S2 =(

Mainly he is just cool and unique. There are 6 water skylanders. 5 are blue. The other is Wham Shell. He is different!
