The first game to change Spyro? [CLOSED]

Many believe Enter the Dragonfly to be the last game that completely followed the original concept and A Hero's Tail, while not drastically different like The Legend of Spyro, still stepped outside the box and many fans did not like the changes and especially the way the characters were portrayed. But, I've noticed the majority either forget or ignore Attack of the Rhynocs/Adventure, which was released one year before A Hero's Tail.

This might sound like an odd question, but does anyone think Attack of the Rhynocs/Adventure was really the first game to change the series, due to it being more of an RPG type game by adding side quests and upgrades for the different breaths? If so, than did you like the change and the way the characters were portrayed?

I know, but what I mean is whether Attack of the Rhynocs/Adventure was the first attempt to really make Spyro different. Granted, it wasn't a huge deviation from the original style, but there was still a clear difference in the gameplay when compared to Spyro 1 - Enter the Dragonfly.

I enjoyed that game despite having a different gameplay style. All the games that were released after AotR have different styles of gameplay except maybe A Hero's Tail which has similar gameplay to the classic games but different characterisations and new controls. Orange/Fusion is different because it's a side scroller with minigames as well as being crossed over with Crash Bandicoot. Shadow Legacy is different because it's darker and more of an action RPG with some features passed over to LoS. Therefore, I agree that AotR is the first game to change the series and the side quests kinda makes it a precursor to Shadow Legacy.

GBA games aren't...Spyro. The Classics and LOS are. The mobile games were made by a gang of drunk homeless people.

Um...... they wouldn't make a homeless drunk gang for this, but if it was made like that it wouldn't been sold or worth the money.

Apparently because they keep switching companies they way Spyro looks is so different. In Dawn of the Dragon that was VERY bad. In Enter the Dragon fly he did look different and in A hero's Tail he was a lighter purple and everyone was different.

I don't think this game changed the storyline of the series. I used to think there was an original Spyro, and a hero Spyro, and a legend Spyro. Recently, though, I've made up my mind that the story was only reset once, for TLOS (and I guess a second time for Skylanders, if you want to count that). It did change Spyro into more of an RPG, with side quests and "spells" and stuff, though the only other game to follow this change somewhat was Shadow Legacy, so in the end it didn't change much. I don't think it influenced AHT, either, though they both have more "open world" type levels
