Woah, now that you speak of Galaxy, I wonder if many people still expect a third one...

I never beat Galaxy as an 8 year old and I lost the disk so I guess I'll never beat it.

I rather Nintendo didn't make a Sunshine 2 or a Galaxy 3 and rather them think of something fresh.
Though if I had to choose, I'd go with Sunshine 2, mainly because I think the Galaxy gimmicks are all used up now. :S

^You have a solid point there, though like kardonis said, I wouldn't mid a third Galaxy as long as it's mas epic as the first. Sunshine though, since it had it's fair share of bad reviews, Nintendo doesn't want to take any risks, but many people love that game, with bad reviews and all. And it was quite an original game. Maybe Nintendo would reconsider?

So Sega is copying Nintendo now. Seriously, they should have come up with something original instead of copying somebody -_-

Yeah, and Nintendo copied the Year of the Dargon, Year of the Horse, ect ect. :|

Miyamoto has already stated that Super Mario 3D World "doesn't mean we won't make a Super Mario Galaxy 3".

Personally, I think Mario should continue doing his own thing, and continue the Galaxy series in the form of "Super Rosalina Galaxy". Kinda like what happened with Wario and Yoshi.

Well, it's a 50/50 then. Every time a company launches something successful, other will bound to follow and copy the formula. It happens with toys a lot, I should know. And movies more.

If you want my personal opinion on the "Year of Sonic" idea, it's pretty redundant, as a lot of Sonic stuff happens every year anyway. I understand they called it as such because of Sonic Boom and it being such a big deal, but as far as I was concerned, 2011 was always the Year of Sonic in my eyes.

All I really want is an Eternity of Rosalina. :V

Am I the only one who feels a bit... underwhelmed by Yoshi's New Island at the moment? I mean, the more I'm seeing of it, the more comparisons I'm drawing to New Super Mario Bros. Right now it just looks like a Yoshi's Island game that exists for the purpose of having another Yoshi's Island game. I was interested by the DS one because it had some neat concepts with the new babies affecting Yoshi's abilities. But this one... I think I need to wait and see more. <.<;

You're not the only one HIR. As much as I loved the original Yoshi's Island for the SNES and it's DS sequel, I can tell this is just a try to continue the franchise. It doesn't look that different from the other two except for the giant eggs and new transformations, and of course, a different storyline. It doesn't look like it has that much of an improvement smilie

Actually, I consider the graphics a downgrade from the sprite work of the SNES and DS games. Of course, that's just my personal opinion. Same goes for the music from what I've heard. <.<;

Reviews are all over the place. I think the aggregate score is 66 or 68 on Metacritic. BECAUSE WE ALL MUST TAKE REVIEWS AS THE GOSPEL. *brick'd*

I might try to snag the Yoshi 3DS XL though. My old 3DS has seen better days... and this one's adorable. :3

I only posted GameXplain's review because they are legitimately reliable when it comes to Nintendo titles, as well as anything closely related (like Sonic). They have a deep understanding of Nintendo history and an eye for fine details, as evidenced by their trailer analysis videos that they always do for upcoming games.

^You have a point there. It is quite hard to find critics very good and accurate. To judge something, it requires time and a lot of research, not to mention being observant.

I have a Zelda one, and it's really worn out. Still deciding what should I buy next...maybe Professor Layton if there is one smilie

So anyway, I see that Yoshi's New Island is the talk of the week. I loved so much the first two, but... well, this seems more like a try to raise more money. The same goes to Dream Team. The other three games were terrific, and while Dream Team managed to have it's share of entertainment, I didn't find it as enjoyable as it's predecessors. I still haven't even finished it smilie

It definitely would've been a bit better if it was the classic "2D drawing" art style, the graphics look pretty low-par compared to 3D Land.

I mean, really, just look at the cutscene where Baby Mario falls into the forest. His "blanket parachute" disappears when he hits the ground. smilie

^I don't either. SNES Yoshi's Island and it's sequel are the only ones I like that are like that. That detal shouldn't be a distraction, the game may look like a children's game only because of that, but it can be very challenging even for experienced gamers.

Haven't seen that cutscene, but it seems really off. It's strange, a 3DS game seems to have a lower quality than a muh older console like the SNES.

They were going for an "oil pastel" look. The concept art, which I think is also pastel, is wonderful. Makes it all the more confusing why the game's appearance is so... bizarre.

    Really excited for Captain Toad and Yoshi. I loved Captain Toad in the Galaxy games, and his levels were really fun in 3D World, and I really thought it was too good a concept to not have it's own game.

    Mario Maker has already been around for emulator users/hackers, but it at least brings it to a new audience and with a nice interface, as well as art style shifts.

    Mario Party 10 could be fun too, but it's not super exciting.

    I also feel that Nintendo should connect levels together to each other more, like in Sunshine and Double Dash!! They make the world feel larger in a way, knowing that all of these places are connected. They did a little of this in Mario Kart 8, with N64 Toads Turnpike, Toad Harbor, and N64 Rainbow Road, alongside N64 Koopa Beach being right across the water from Sunshine Airport. I wish they would do it more though.

    They could literally just combine the two, rather than discard one altogether. Some of the levels from the Galaxy games were actually really open ended.

    HD remake or not, If Nintendo releases another game with "Super Mario Galaxy" in the title, I must have it! But you are right, the games on the Wii are already beautiful as is.
