There seems to be a very basic function missing... [CLOSED]

Either that or just none of the gameplay videos are showing it. Has anyone ever seen any of these characters jump? It seems as if they only jump when they hit one of those little pads. ANY good platformer ought to have a jump button in the controls for whenever you want to go up. I'm forseeing a lot of 'Warfang' type areas that you can see but, annoyingly, can't get to, even if they're right next to you...

Yeah, I was wondering that earlier when I saw a character get stuck and then go back to use a ramp just to get up a tiny ledge. Weird.

I think the dragon characters can "fly" but I too am curious about a jumping mechanic. <.<;

They'll probably have a jumping mechanic in the game. I mean, mainly they've only focused on the action gameplay when jumping is not needed at the time.

How do you NOT have simple jumping in a kids' platformer? EVERY game of that type I have ever played had that, I guess I've come to take it for granted.

But a friend of mine is at E3 currently, and he has seen the press conference about Skylanders and saw gameplay demos and he saw that the characters will jump in this game.

I guess if the game is still in progress, though, maybe they'll add a jump button if there isn't one already. I can already imagine not being able to jump like an itch you can't reach... >.<

but what about those ''circley spring thingies'' on the ground? from the gameplay we've seen the characters can jump only when they stand on those and every path they can go to(like the elevated ground) has a ''slope''/or stairs which connects the upper area with the ground area without the need of jumping smilie
Kinda like in the pokemon games,since they are viewed from the similar perspective but you also cannot jump to higher ground,instead you need to find that ''slope'' to get to the wanted area.
So yeah...I assume this game wont have any ''manual'' jumping,only by the springs =/
They haven't even mentioned platforming...just puzzles and action

Come to think of it, LOZ games doesn't allow you to manually jump either. However I'm sure there is a jumping function that only activates when you approach a ledge, or a cliff that your character can jump. Besides that, then we'll just have to find those spring pads.

That's dumb. I always thought that jumping was missing from Zelda too. What would be the purpose of leaving jumping out of a Spyro game??

I saw the characters were jumping around everywhere in the video showing the Player VS Player demonstration, and I SWEAR I've seen some jump in the trailers, but the jumping wasn't very high. So it could be that the springs are just that: Springs, that make you jump HIGHER smilie

And if there IS no manual jumping (Besides in PVP mode), well it'll be something nagging me at the corner of my mind, but I'd be able to overlook it. Petz Catz (And Dogz) 2 was a kids game that didn't have jumping whatsoever, and it was pretty good for what it was.

At the end of the GameTrailers one you see them fighting in an arena, the jumping seems to be limited to the blue pads dotted about.

For the most part, but after Prism Break and Chop Chop are fighting in the corner (With no blue pads) , and Chop Chop runs away, we see Prism Break jump towards the spike pit while he's running to catch up to him.

cus it's not a Spyro game smilie it's a Skylanders game WITH Spyro :3

No, no, I don't mean THAT part, where they both fly backwards. Sometime after that, they get into the corner and Chop Chop runs away into the spike pit, Prism Break then jumps as he's running after Chop Chop.

He can still fly, it's like gliding. Guess we have to get use to it. They can jump in the 3DS version since that version is more of a platformer.

I think certain characters can jump. Maybe some higer than others. Kinda like in race games where some cars have better handling than others.

No, it's confirmed that the characters won't jump at all in the console versions of Skylanders.

Oi-geeze, people ID

Well, again, for me, I'll be just fine ( minus just a tiny bit of nagging in the back of my mind) without a (Manual) jump feature. Petz Catz/Dogz 2 was a kids game with some puzzle and exploring elements, and it didn't have any jumping period, and I still found the game enjoyable. So the lack of a jump button isn't going to effect my optimism for Skylanders in any way shape or form smilie

On a side note, that probably also means there won't be many glitches, as I've noticed a lot of glitches, hidden or otherwise, have to do with being able to "Jump" out of the level and go places you shouldn't.

They may just be super jump pads, to boost your regular jump. Like the super jump power ups in the Mystic Marsh level in Spyro 2.

Seriously? You can see the blue pads on the corners of the arena if you look closely.

And yes, Spyro can still fly. He just opens his wings and hovers above the ground.

At least when you use the Flight button over and over, it looks like you're jumping.

We can always get the 3DS version of Skylanders if we want to jump so badly.

Alot of great games don't allow you do jump manually, so I don't see how not being able to jump is a real problem.
