I don't exactly like Activision, no. Not enough to hate them. But that troll just blurted that I liked Activision or something because of a few comments about the raging fanbase on my skylander video comments.

Note how he has no videos and 8 subs. I only looked at his channel for 15 seconds and I already knew he wasn't as good as you. At least you upload stuff.

"Spyro is a character made to be enjoyed by all audiences. Insomniac games, the original creators, have always stated this, as have the newer developers.
Skylanders is targeted at small children primarily. As for those 32 figures you mentioned, of course it isn't required to have them all, but some kids will want to. You oughta see where I'm getting at.

You're the one who's being selfish right now, pal. If Activision wanted to make a watered down platforming game with 32 collectible figures and a portal that'll probably cost a heap, they could've EASILY spawned a new franchise. Why did they pick Spyro? You say it must be because they care. Truth is, they don't. They simply stuck a familiar logo on a product that's yet to be proven. They were sailing in unexplored waters so they took a short cut.
You act as if this has been all throught well through. They didn't create this idea around Spyro. The idea to lure people into buying their toys came first and the idea to stick Spyro in there came last. Open your eyes, man."

1. Yes, kids are going to want to have them all even though you don't need them. That's how Activision is going to get money. It's actually a genius idea.
2. Like you said, Insomniac never owned Spyro.
3. How can a person be selfish for liking a game?
4. Yes, they put Spyro in for marketing purposes, AND to try and get his franchise going again, so they can get double the money from Skylanders, and Spyro's future games. Again, a good idea.

Plus, Insomniac never owned the franchise. They only made the first 3 games.

Along with that, it's been told that if the game is successful, and people like Spyro in the game, they will make a brand new Spyro game for himself, while Skylanders goes on as it's own franchise. Ohhhhh wow, I never knew that. Actually, the end of ANB could have been the perfect ending. But tbh, i'm glad they continued it from there, I think TEN and DotD made it into a good trilogy. Anyway, i think I'm making this off topic.

The question I've always wondered about is, if DotD was made by fan ideas, was it the fans' idea to create the designs for Spyro, and particularly Cynder? Or did EL do that themselves? I'm convienced to believe the latter since so many people seem to hate the DotD design of Cynder, and it seems to outweigh those whom like it. But if they did get the idea from the fans, it will make the entire fanbase look like a bunch of hypocrites....

Maybe I'm just looking too far into things.

I don't think so. They just altered their designs into their style, and the fans didn't like their style of Spyro & Cynder because they made their colors a bit off and messed up the anatomy.
Like brawler said, I think the only fan ideas they took were free flight and co-op, but it seems like they had co-op in mind seeing how TEN ended.

Insomniac made the game based on an outline. Ergo, they followed directions, and took things from there. And that still doesn't mean Insomniac owned the franchise.

So, calling me and many others selfish for criticizing what Skylanders is doing with the Spyro franchise is apparently alright. On another matter. Wouldn't it make much more sense to you if this game was simly called "Skylander adventures" and would feature an ensemble cast with Spyro in a guest crossover? I mean, seeing as he's just one out of 32 possible characters?

It's all a plan made by Activision, and so far it's the only time where I actually think they're doing a good job.

That last bit is why I don't mind Skylanders. Spyro will get his own game (most likely) after this game- if it's successful- that is.

Fans also sugested:
- Bring back old characters (with Hunter being the most popular)
- Main enemy type other than apes.
- Final boss fight while flying
- More platforming
- After effects from furies (see TEN, electric fury inparticular cause enemies that get near you to be shock for a short time afterwards)

Fight and platforming are good ideas, but things get messy when you try to mix them.

Bringing back old characters didn't effect gameplay.

There were too many ape enemy types, so this was a nice change.

Final boss fight while flying....bit particular, but it makes sense.

More platforming? Why the hell not!?smilie

I don't think the last one happens in DotD.

So yeah, I don't see how these things caused people to hate the game.
