Not necessarily. They announced Sonic for Brawl quite late, and he drew in a lot of customers. They may be saving some big announcements for later.

They didn't put Sonic in until quite late. That's why a lot of Sonic's moveset is fairly simple and uses the ball graphic so much. Nintendo didn't have the rights to Sonic until closer to the release so they quickly added him in, it's also why we only see him at the very end of the Subspace Emissary. smilie

I actually heard they had started work on him early enough, but announced him later.

The reason why his moveset is simple is because of this(quote from Sonic's Smash Bros Dojo page):

Quote:
The original Sonic the Hedgehog game used only one button. I think its simple yet exhilarating play was its virtue.

And given that this game’s controls are also simple, I think it personifies his distinct characteristics.

He's my best character!smilie

The thing about Sonic in Brawl is that he was designed for more advanced players. His speed makes him hard to use for some people. I wasn't great with him at first but I just kept practicing until I learned all his traits.

Aaaannd were off-topic...smilie

Sonic isn't good. Two of his moves are near identical, and his homing attack can be broken at times. I used to be good at him, but I've gotten much better with Meta Knight, G&W and Luigi.

Yes we are. But then again, what can we say? Someone is whining that Cynder isn't in the game, even though it's not completely certain. There's not much we can say about it.

I don't think there is such a thing as "good" SSB characters(possible exception being Jigglypuff, who is a less effective Kirby). It's really down to the players personal preference. For example, I like playing as fast/agile characters in combat games, so Sonic is right up my alley. When it comes to Brawl though, I'm experienced with everyone. My favourites are Sonic, Marth, Meta Knight, Captain Falcon, Toon Link, Kirby, Ike and Luigi.

Yeah, I know.
Personally, I would like her to stay, but all my favourite characters get the boot anyway.....*points at avatar*

Sadly, no. But, they might bring some old characters back for Skylanders. Maybe Cynder will come back, but I don't know. She was meant for the LOS trilogy anyway.

If that meant anything, then Conker would not have any of his own games.

I'm not fussed 'bout Cynder, I disliked her TBH. But I believe she was used as a way of introducing Romance into Spyro, and was a very dark and mysterious character. She may no be included because she is dark and doesn't appeal to kids.

Actually, a lot of younger players like Cynder.

I think she could easily be adapted for a more light-hearted/comediac scenario. I think she's a pretty diverse character, and can work in anything.

Yes, Cynder is quite liked amoung younger audiences, but unfortunatly people see that because LoS is much more mature then the Characters and their issues are too Mature.

But I do think that a remodel of Cynder is quite appropriate, it'd be quite interesting to see how she turned out.

Crudely drawn pictures. But that's funny. Kids are learning about sex from Spyro. smilie

The majority of SpyroxCynder art is from the adult Cyndorks.

Yeah, and my 10 year old brother has been playing Gears of War, Left 4 Dead, Call of Duty, and other shooters to no end. But you still expect kids that age to be playing Mario, Sonic, and terrible Wii shovelware.

I also play Final Fantasy, Deadrising, etc, games geared towards my age.
And I also play games like Conker and GTA, games made for adults.

I'm not going to make judgements on whether or not it's a Spyro game until I see more.

That's why they are rated E for Everyone. I'm 14 and I play all types of games.

If anything she'll appear at the end of the game if Spyro goes back to his universe, and they decide to use the LoS universe instead of the Classic.

All the sources I've read say this is a clean slate for Spyro. If there are references to older games in the franchise, it is most likely to be the classic games but we may see a few popular characters from all of them. Granted, that's a big "if" since it's possible Spyro himself will be the only hold-over from his earlier games.

Environments remind me of Classic Spyro given an LoS paintjob. And the stage with the floating islands..........reminds me of the floating islands (not much of a surprise there).

Gameplay reminds me of Classic Spyro mixed with Super Mario Galaxy and bits of Crash of the Titans. Yes, Crash of the Titans is a crap game, but Classic Spyro and Mario Galaxy aren't.

IMO, Shrek the Third is a decent movie tie-in. I'd give it a 6-7/10.....but I expect much more from Spyro. =/

The gameplay doesn't make me think of either SMG at all really.....not enough innovation....then again, I thought the first one was kind of repetitive.

Haven't played Shrek 3, so I cannot say anything regarding it.

It kinda does to me. The jumping high in the air, and all of the different characters remind me of the different abilities you would have in SMG.

And who said the gameplay needed to be innovative? There are several games out there that aren't innovative that have won our hearts. Street Fighter 4, Transformers War for Cybertron, and Sonic Colors are examples of that.
sonicbrawler182 Platinum Sparx Gems: 7098
#86 Posted: 21:02:02 23/02/2011
I didn't say it had to be innovative, I meant that this game doesn't remind me of Mario Galaxy due to the lack of innovation, m'kay?

The only thing that reminds me of SMG is the beach level, which looks exactly like the beach galaxies in SMG.

The jumping in the air thing was done via a bounce pad of sorts. They make me think of the ones in Devil May Cry.

If a game reminds you of SMB, that means it has similar gameplay, therefore it's not being innovative. smilie

I didn't notice that.

Yes I know that. But some bits and pieces remind me of it. Once again, I'm more reminded of Classic Spyro. It has all the elements of it. It's the game everyone wanted. And all they can do is whine about the goddamn design.
sonicbrawler182 Platinum Sparx Gems: 7098
#88 Posted: 21:12:58 23/02/2011
The only game that reminds me of SMB is Spyro 1, due to the storyline.

In terms of tone, I think of Classic Spyro. Everything is all colourful.
In regards to actual gameplay, the closest Spyro-related thing it makes me think of is a dumbed down ANB. Even that is a bit of a stretch. And yes, it really reminds me of CoTT. I played the Xbox 360 demo of that, and it was alright. Skylanders looks a bit better though.

I'm with CAV on this one. What I've seen doesn't remind me of SMG (mostly because it looks like I can play the new Spyro, which I can't say is true of SMG). In terms of environment design and the way Spyro moves, it makes me think of the Insomniac Spyro series with a touch of LoS more than any other games I've played.
