Gynandromorphs and chimeras are cool. That cardinal there is half-male and half-female, split right down the middle. It happens in other species too—I’ve mostly seen images of butterflies, but there’s even been a lobster gynandromorph. A chimera, as defined by the internet, is “an organism or tissue that contains at least two different sets of DNA, most often originating from the fusion of many different zygotes.”
