Having trouble connecting a controller to an emulator.

I'll delete this once I get an answer so as not to clog the board with useless topics lol.
I didn't know where else to post this, so I thought this'd be the best place?

Well, yeah, I'd just like some help regarding connecting my PS3 controller to PCSX2. I use a Mac and had to use Wine to get the emulator to work, and my controller connected fine to my Mac, but PCSX2 won't pick up the controller at all. Is it something to do with me having to use Wine?
