I keep trying to refrain from watching certain things but I give in and do it anyways sometimes. Thankfully I've been able to avoid seeing too much from Year of the Dragon.

You know .. a thing with me and the occasional footage drop is that until/if Spyro Reignited comes to PC, I can't play it, so every single spoiler is welcome news for me.

Medievil remake trailer was released today, and I watched it.

Honestly,the Spyro reignited remake puts into shame the medievil one. I have always thought the former looked great and that it was a dream come true for most of the fans, and today, after comparing it with the medievil one, I'm even more sure about it.

I'm writing this here because I suddenly became conscious how bad the sypro remake could have turned out to be, should another company have taken care of it ( as it has happened with medievil).

I’d like to share my impression on MediEvil’s remake, even though I never got to play the original.
Would have loved to, but back when I was really young I was also quite impressionable, so my parents never bought it.
Then I finally got to play Resurrection during Secondary School and I really liked it.

Only recently I learnt how different it is from the original, which is why I was quite excited when the remake got announced.
From what I’ve seen, I think it will be more similar to Crash by remaining as faithful as possible to the source material and reinterpreting very little of the game, whether it’s for the best or not.
I liked what was shown in the trailer and if Spyro taught us something is that we shouldn’t be too quick to judge simply from the first one.

TfB took quite a risk by reimagining many elements of the Classic Trilogy, even though I feel like the games themselves allowed for quite some artistic liberties, and it paid off in my opinion; doesn’t mean that strategy would work for every remake.

All of that being said, and keep in mind I cannot be too objective regarding this matter, I do personally agree in saying that the Reignited Trilogy is probably the best remake of a PS1 cartoony glory I’ve seen so far: not because the others are bad, simply because this one is so, so much better.
I couldn’t be more grateful that it was handled by such talented and passionate people, and I sure wish the same for Sir Dan!

Spyro and Resident Evil 2 are the best looking remakes of this console generation right now.

Frozen Altars gameplay. The only reason why I watched this is because I never cared much about this level back in the day. But wow, TFB did an excellent job here. And that snowman is more brutal than ever!

I for one like the Frozen Altars music remix a lot! It preserves the chill mood of the original really well while adding a bit of beat.

Also that abominable snowman was BRUTAL.

I haven't watched the Frozen Altars footage, but something I haven't seen many people talk about is the fact that it's from an article interviewing specific people from Toys For Bob about Reignited!

It's honestly amazing the amount of options they have for music in Reignited. I love it though.

Not watching either. Fighting the temptation to is getting a little rough lol. But to anyone that does, how’s the music? Spooky Swamp is one of my favorites.

Strongly hope they went for a Dark Hollow-like palette for Spooky Swamp, with bright greens and deep blues.
Glad Frozen Altars’ snowmen are as frightening as ever, they always scared me when I was a kid.

That new image of Glimmer with a slightly lighter sky makes the whole level look a lot better, even though I’d like if the grass were a bit darker.
Hope they’ll still manage to use a few variations of greens to match the various levels.

Very silly and minor nitpicks, but what else can you really say when everything else is jaw-droppingly outstanding?

Sure, they most frequently are, but there are actually authors who prefer more freedom and ignore that rule.

They should also refer to nature and recall a defined sensation or image, though, so we’d probably be wrong either way.

So I caved and watch the Spooky Swamp clip (insert alicecarp's meme lmao), and all I have to say is wow! Just wow! What a transformation! And I thought Fireworks Factory looked good. Way to prove me wrong. If Spooky Swamp is any indication, Crystal Islands may be the best looking level in this entire trilogy!

Nope, no new footage if you've been keeping up with it to now.

Basically, the only new information I could make out that hasn't been in the other youtuber recaps is:

A) One of OG Spyro's working names, besides Pete, was Pierre.

B ) Spyro was originally suppose to be an even BIGGER snarky jerk in OG Spyro 1, before they toned it down for the final release, and then toned it down even more for Spyro 2 & 3.

Now I’m imagining Spyro with Nevin’s like moustaches debating on the correct pronounciacion of Jaques’ name.
