Waiting for our weekly Spyro the Dragon in-game sneak peek.

And they post Ripto.

And I genuinely thought it was a fanart at first, because it looked too damn good to be official.
He looks deviously sinister and much better than the cover art, I LOVE him! smilie

I'M SO HAPPY AAAAAA HE LOOKS SO GOOD! I'm really excited to see him in motion; Ripto in the original is already full of so much life, but they could go even further with how expressive he is in Reignited.

Also, does anyone have any ideas as to where that screenshot takes place? I was thinking it's maybe from the cutscene after you defeat Crush, but I'm not sure.

The cave in the back makes me think Gulp's Overlook, but I'm not 100% sure...


If I HAD to nitpick, I will say I kinda miss Ripto's green eyes, as the green was a nice contrast to all the red...

But, again, nitpick. It won't keep me up at night XP

Green pops, but with shaders it might disappear all the time. It's not uncommon for you to play a game with character artwork that clearly shows a striking eye color but most of the time you see gray or brown; Bayonetta comes to mind where I had no idea she had blue eyes until I saw the art gallery.

I was worried I wouldn't like Ripto's redesign as I didn't like how he looked on the Reignited box art. But he looks so much better in the new picture. He looks quite sinister.

The point is that the iris should be the green part, not the sclera.
So the correct edit would be adding a smaller green circle around the pupil, though it might end up making him look more reptilian than he already does.

I can make out Isaak and possibly Jed, but the quality is too low to try to speculate who the other could be.

The red one next to Isaak could be Ulric. Ulric brags about his strength, and the dragon is flexing, and I could easily see them tweaking the pink dragons to be more red colored...

The super, super bright blue one on the top box makes me think of Gildas, as he was so NOTICEABLY neon blue compared to everyone else...

Aaaanndd......I think that may be Maximos next to Sparx? He's yellow, spotted, orange underbelly, green wing webbing, and it...looks like he might be holding a fork?

I think the rightmost one in the lower box could be either Astor or Zander, though I’m more inclined to believe it’s the second due to the green wings, while the one above him could be Useni since he’s green, slender and has purple wings.

Not sure about the other ones you theorized (not sure about mines either, to be fair), but I definitely agree on the one above Isaak being a Peace Keeper.

Also, the more I squint, the more I think that one middle very bottom dragon isn't Jed.

Not only is he very purple colored, rather then red, but if you squint, really, really, really hard, the necklace he has looks rather different to Jed's eyeball necklace...

I LOVE HIM!! And I'm so hyped for Ripto's Rage. I can't wait to see all the unique levels and characters ;v;

Also looking closely, it appears as though Ripto has green pupils (is that the word for it?) in that art.

You know what, spyroid, I think you are definitely right.
What tricked me was the fact he seemed to be in a shrugging pose in that image so I immediately connected that to Jed, but neither the colors nor the accesories mach him that well (he doesn’t have a staff while Isaak does).

Even his general shape might be slightly different, but that’s too hard to judge from there.

Ripto keeps looking better, even though I’d really get rid of those elf-like shoes.
I don’t think they fit his design or improve it, unlike the curly details on his cape.

Like the art. He's a lot more reptilian now... even pretty intimidating, too. Wonder if Toys for Bob took any influence from Emperor Tachyon's design, because I immediately thought of the guy.

I don't mind the shoes! I think I like everything about the design! So glad that he looks so much better in game than in the cover, but I didn't really doubt it because cover illustrations look weird sometimes.
The only thing I think may be off putting is that his head may be a little too big, but I fear that if it is downsized then he'll look even stranger, so I'm fine with how he is lol. Also, seeing the edit, I do wish he had his green eyes, they make him look more striking and sinister and greedy for power. Eyes are an important part of character design to me. But he looks fine none the less haha.
Love the concept art, and I love his oversized necklace. His attire is just perfect as well, and love the cravat. ><;

where are his feathe-- *shot*

To be faaaair, I think only ETD ever pinpoints Ripto as strictly a dinosaur, and mostly people tend to want to FORGET things ETD says, so it'd be totally safe to just say Ripto's a nondescript lizard-like creature...

He's actually also mentioned as being a dinosaur in the Attack of the Rhynocs/Spyro Adventure manual. So it's not just an ETD thing P :

If birds and reptiles are one and the same, then shouldn't they BOTH be either warm or cold-blooded? And I think that pretty much every modern biology book still classifies them separately. Mammals also evolved from reptiles, but they are still classified separately.

I saw the latest Jordan Fringe video, and have to admit I agree with him regarding the bottom leftmost dragon in the Xtralife chest possibly being Nestor.

The colors are spot on (you can even see a bit of his horns), the big red wings really remind me of him and I kinda make out a squarish Artisan-like muzzle.
He wears some kind of dark green garments but it’s really hard to make them out, but I do kinda see a neck accessory similar to Nevin’s.

A tiny bit of discussion there about making redesigns instead of just making the visuals a tad bit prettier.

I was really looking forward to the idle animation of Spyro licking his crest, and I'm so pleased to see how cute it is. I love the little stretch they gave him too! And Zoe looks so pretty! <3

I'm a little disappointed that the orbs don't bounce to you anymore, but the new animation is still really cool. Also, since the HUD is blue here, I wonder if it'll be different across each game?
