I recently dug up my S1 Jet-Vac and decided to finish off his upgrades, but I'm not sure if I should take Buuzer's old recommendation from Trap Team since Jet-Vac has been nerfed in Imaginators. Which path is the best one for this game???

First of all, thanks Buuzer for putting all the path videos in one quick and easy post, it's a big help!

After playing the game for a few weeks now, my preference for sensei paths matches yours except for:

Kaos - top path is better IMO because having stronger ranged attacks is a great help, especially on Nightmare mode where you want to avoid getting too close to enemies. Probably a matter of preference if you prefer melee attacks or ranged attacks.

Crash - top path. While the Aku Aku protection power is pretty useless, I found the unending spin attack with greater damage is way more useful than dropping crates. I also didn't notice much of a boost to the crates after bottom path upgrades, probably because I hardly use the crates.

Wolfgang - top path again. While I like the multiple arrow shots while behind speakers from the bottom path, you get the same results (if not better) from the top path with making the speakers into turrets. Plus arrows that continue to hurt enemies is like two hits in one when you just want to blast arrows and not keep setting up speakers. Both paths are very similar so not really a wrong path either way, which is great for those who have regular and Dark Wolfgang.

Wild Storm/Wild Weather path: Wild Storm is clearly designed for knocking enemies down, and that being said, it only makes sense to enhance his ranged attacks that he can use to take advantage of his foes falling away from him right away. Using his other path makes this process counterintuitive, as he will knock an enemy down, then have to re-establish close range before he can do any real damage (because his close range attacks are the only realistic damage dealing option on that path), which wastes time. There are no delays with Wild Weather's powered up ranged attacks, so choose it and bring the storm!

Air Strike/Primal Elements: This path drastically outdoes the other one. You'll mainly be picking it for the reduced damage that you'll benefit from when the falcon is dispatched, but also to power up Air Strike's Attack 1 punches.

Bad Juju/The Voodoo That You Do: I really do think there's a lot more to be gained by using Bad Juju's son strategically on this path. You can really spread the damage around and enjoy temporary invincibility on this path. Send Juju Junior out, then when you're enemy is launching their attack, call him back and make Bad Juju invincible, thereby causing their attack to fizzle and buying you enough time for one or two hits. It does have a bit of a learning curve, but it's super fun, especially for players who like carefully timing their counter attacks.

Boom Bloom/Spore Seed Specialist: The flowers and the whip go together a lot better than the flowers and Boom Bloom's burrowing bulb plant Attack 2 move. By whipping the flowers, you'll do way more damage and unlike with the burrowing bulb, you won't destroy them, ensuring the flowers stick around longer... and get to do a lot more damage.

Ambush/The Master Splinterer: This underappreciated path may be technical, but the damage output it's capable of is explosive! Just whack, whack with Ambush's leaf sword, then pause for a second and whack again, and if your Ambush is at least in his mid teens in level, he will have dealt not too far shy of 1,000 points of damage with just the last swing! He can even do more than 1,000 damage with it if he's in his own elemental zone. I don't know about you, but I find that kind of damage way more appealing than his much weaker Attack 2 and Attack 3 antics on the other path.

The Chompy Mage/The Champ of Chomp!: The Chompies are where most of The Chompy Mage's power come from, so this is only a natural extension of his strengths. Plus, they already distract enemies, making the shrubberies on the other path not stand out as much.

Crash/Crates A Plenty: Both of Crash's paths have their advantages, but this path is better for disrupting enemies and tends to get Crash's jetpack and bazooka out more since he's fighting with the crates, resulting in increased opportunities to be invincible while attacking.

Chopscotch/Heavy Hitter: The charged axe slams on this path are pitilessly powerful (especially if you destroy a skull helper with it) and doesn't even take that long too charge, making it a massively effective damage dealing option. Just one thing... if you do invest in this path, DON'T buy the first upgrade. Sucking enemies to you usually ends in tragedy.

Pit Boss/Pit Prowess: Neither of Pit Boss's paths are that good actually, but this one is easily the stronger of the two. The viper pits spitting out snakes on intermittent intervals and you being able to create 3 viper pits amount to a pretty noticeable advantage.

Wolfgang/Soundmeister: This path is much more useful for enhancing Wolfgang's mobility and using his speakers as a tool to damage enemies. The speakers stay wherever you place them and keep doing damage to enemies there--even if Wolfgang can't stay in that spot at the time--which makes them great for dealing reoccurring damage while Wolfgang focuses on evasion. And with the upgrades that power them up so much on this path, they become very effective tools indeed.

What's the best path for Hood Sickle and TKC? I'm still debating because they are 2 of my favorite villains. And I know they are both getting variants, and Hood Sickle's is already out but I don't have it yet, so I could just pick a random one. But I want the strongest path for them first.

As usual, my path choices -

Golden Queen - whatever the scarab path is named. She really is the most fun throwing scarabs because of her mobility, and the butterfly can do its work with just the basic upgrades.

King Pen - Ice Mastery. I don't really like his gameplay, especially the melee, so I went for what used it the least. Still a really meh path outside of the blizzard, because the iceberg and the ring are pretty situational and his slippery movement doesn't help them at all.

Mysticat - Meow You See Me - I'm no button masher, and I love running around enemies while copycats do the work. It doesn't compliment my lack of coordination at all, but heck, I have so much fun.

As for some older guys -

S2 Ignitor - Soul of the Flame - Mortar Explosion has now juggle. Combine that with the fire, and as long as you can keep your distance/exploit the scenery, you're good to go.

I got my thoughts ready and my conclusion on most of wave 3.

smilie Top path all the way. Yroc's biggest problem is solved as both of his combos actually help him move faster and the random falling blue bolts actually serve a purpose. Plus he does some super damage.

smilie Top path honestly. Her daggers do quite a bit of damage and the flying daggers will actually hurt enemies. Lots of crowd control and damage outputs for her.

smilie again the Top path. His vortexes shoot so many sheep that do nearly 60 damage each and they shoot out very quickly. He can rack up some pretty big numbers in seconds on this path and more critical hits is always welcome.

For Chain Reaction, the top path is definitely best. He gets a new move where electric spheres are released with your standard sword attacks, then electric spheres get released when you defeat enemies. Plus his chain swords get a sweet electricity animation on them. Finally, he gets a combo move that works as a much needed dash attack. This path is a no brainer.

What do those electric orbs do anyway? They're never really explained beyond the "Maximum energy cap increased" upgrade.
Dahvoo Emerald Sparx Gems: 3914
#78 Posted: 22:35:14 05/12/2016
Yeah, Chain Reaction has a lot of stuff going on and his upgrade paths don't explain things very well.

By default, when you use your chainsaw swords on enemies, they drop energy orbs. You have to walk up and touch them, then your swords collect energy. You can see little bars on your swords fill up, like charging a battery. The more energy in your sword, the stronger the invention attack is (that spinning chainsaw turret). If your swords are full, the orbs just stay there. They don't attack enemies and you can't pick up more until you empty your swords.

On the top upgrade path, your sword attacks not only drop energy orbs, but also blast out flying electrified spheres that can attack enemies. They almost act like ghosts flying around. Defeated enemies release even more electrified spheres.

On the lower path, you can hold the max amount of power in your sword and make the inventions do additional attacks. But the electrified orbs on the top path are too good to pass up plus you get extra combos, one of which is a dash move and the only real way to give Chain Reaction some speed.

For Boom Bloom I'd say that either path is a win. I didn't think bottom would be that good, but it gives the vines some actual use! On top her whip and spores get incredibly strong and can tower up damage very quickly.

Well after watching some videos I actually found on him, I can easily say that smilie's top path is the way to go. His lollipops break faster for more damage, has some attack to do with sour that hurts enemies and even goes into Party Mode where he does more damage, takes less damage and even moves faster. Like he becomes so lightning fast it actually makes him look hilarious. The bottom path looks pretty underwhelming and he only has one good upgrade where he shoots an insane candy laser out of his mouth.

I like his flamethrower. He can spin with it and hit multiple enemies. It kinda reminds me of Sunburn the way it never quits, but it's cool that with Flarewolf it keeps going even after he gets hit.

Bottom can have better Crates that can be Summoned 4 at once but leaving you out for damage easier when spinning

I got Boom Bloom most recently, and the path you choose should depend on what you use most. I mainly use the whip and her spore seeds so I chose that path and it's very powerful, but if you use the vine trail the most, then go with that path.
