I'm guessing they'll relist things once they have time to do their homework. Seems like they only ended listings that were bid-less auctions or buy it now.

Gah, if only I had extra funds, I would've bought the Fryno and Hot Dog. Was gonna buy Smash Hit as well, but looks like UncleBob beat me to the punch.

I did manage to snag this one though:

Yeah, looks like a normal Terrafin, until I noticed the base:

[User Posted Image]

Pretty clear that some are factory samples, and some are just downright prototypes. I have a theory that Fryno was supposed to be the Easter variant in lieu of the Flocked Trigger Happy, but there's no way to tell if it's true.

Time to second mortgage the house once the Splat hits the fan...I mean ebay. LOL I'd wager he has one of those dark Splat figs that kid testing brought changes to. How cool would it be to own one of those?

But seriously now he has a packaged Bronze Roller Brawl on ebay? The luckest person ever!

Honestly I just wish I knew what he has from a historical perspective as it is really fascinating to see ideas that Activision had in mind while developing these figures. What could have been in some cases. I love seeing prototype images.

Also, knowing some of the FB groups out there, I'm guessing they were pretty hateful towards him for listing that weird-*** Hot Dog at $300. I've seen people post regular figures for average eBay selling prices and get blasted in some of these groups. :/

Wow. That is quite a score you have with that box.

Sad I missed that Blue Hog by $1. Can't wait to see the orange one go up. :D

I highly, highly recommend picking up a Wii U and a copy of Superchargers so you can test each of the figures. Confirmation that they work would make them be a bit more interesting. :D

Hi August2016, welcome to smilie and thank you for sharing your awesome collection! smilie

Some of those Spitfires look like they have a different pose compared to the model we got inside the Starter Pack; I remember the dark grey leaked prototypes had three distinct poses so is there a chance they could be prototypes?

I'm pretty concerned here as I don't see much help being given...I do though see a lot of drooling wolves wanting at what you have.

Sadly, I'm sure that a lot of people had already contacted you asking for private sales, but if you do decide sell any further ones on ebay I can assist you or someone else here should be willing to properly assist you as well. I've been selling on eBay since 1997 and I have over 50 thousand feedbacks over three accounts selling old toy & hobby stuff, so I know my stuff.

My first recommendation is to make your actions look better. Have a proper write up and do not be lazy about this. I know English is your second language, but we can write you up something to use to make the listings look more professional. I mean, and I don't mean to offend you, the way they are now makes you look unprofessional and a bootlegger. It doesn't instill any confidence in you as a seller nor in what you are selling. It also effects your sales as if you looked more legit, your items will in fact be going for even more than they are now!

My second recommendation is to run each figure by the forum by listing the images here before you list them there. We can give you proper ideas on what to say and their starting bid worth. We can point out what's different with the figure and so on which will help maximize the profits on your items. For example, I'm betting all those Bowsers are probably different in some small way and are all prototypes. But it would take the experts here to spot these things.

My third recommendation is to run out and get a copy of SuperChargers and test each and every figure before you sell them. Ebay is very strict about stuff working and you really cannot get away without testing anything and being vague about if they work or not. The idea behind this is to avoid "seller defect" strikes against your eBay account. If you get too many strikes, eBay will ban your account and you'll never be able to sell on there again. So it is very important to nail the listings right, always listing if they work or not, if it's a prototype and what makes that obvious and other important facts.

My fourth recommendation is that I would use a PC or a laptop and avoid using mobile ebay to make listings (which seems is what you are doing now). Even if you have to go out and buy these things, it's worth it in the long run. You are looking at a few thousand dollars worth of figures here if you do the right things in selling them.

Honestly, this is going to require a bit of work on your behalf, but each prototype should start off at $50 a pop and way higher for the hella cool ones like those Hot Dogs. If done right, you will be maximizing your profits and getting a lot more than you are now, like any good business does.

I know this will make me unpopular here, but don't let the wolves bully you into selling directly and selling stuff for a song. We all want cool prototypes for cheap, but you're now a businessman and should be getting the profits you deserve on them. Ebay is the way to sell anything rare and unique and the auctioning process generally brings out the true value on these things. You just need to clean up your act and make the world believe that you know what you are doing and are a professional about this and then the proper profits will follow.

Just saying all this stuff as a fellow businessman and not trying to be a jerk nor mean about this. These are the things that I had assumed you wanted to know when you were asking for help. If you need help in other ways, please feel free to ask.
---
Stay Cool!

After testing them in the game, you could safely assume it's a prototype. Make sure to put "Prototype" in the title of your listing. There are very few listings on ebay when you search "skylanders prototype", so it would make them stand out.

Whether or not they work in the game, figures with that "shimmer coat" (Steel Plated Smash Hit, Fire Bone Hot Dog, Thorn Horn Camo) are worth more than usual. Make sure to highlight that in the title too.

I dunno. While I'm in agreement these aren't all retail products, I'm not sure if "Prototype" is the right descriptor - especially without confirmation from development/distribution (which is unlikely to happen). Any claims made in the auction should be 100% accurate - I can see some of these figures fetching over $100 each easily (How much did that Magna Charge end up hitting? Last I looked, it was up to $130...) - and when you get that high, there are jerks who will bid high, win the auction, then use any tactic they can to get cash back from the seller, threating to get them kicked from eBay. This is why I contacted the seller as soon as I got my figure and tested it to find it did not work - he needs to work with someone who knows the product and knows eBay sales (I have never sold on eBay, so I'm not much help there) - he needs to protect himself from those who wish to take advantage of his lack of familiarity with the subject matter... and this includes not making claims that can't be proven without a doubt.

Sorry for my poor choice of words "safely assume". I guess I was going more for "probably". You could put a disclaimer in the description of the listing stating they are not confirmed prototypes. It's just a simple word to make it easy to find in the search.

As far as prices go, Magna Charge looks like an in-house prototype (3D printed) and might not be the best comparison for other figure prices. Most of the figures in the pictures with unusual colors are probably color/paint test pieces from China.

Pretty much. If lineage cannot be verified, less is more, otherwise the seller is on the hook. "Puffing" your listings without concrete proof is a good way to get in hot water.

Using "Rare" may help, but there are far too many listings with that word. It's a shame there's no easy way to label them. If it's hard to find on ebay, it could stay under the radar for some people.
