S'just a crest dude. The guy looks like he's made of rock, and the symbol on his crest looks like the Earth symbol.

I actually think he's made of copper wires, which kinda make a beard or complete "fur".
I've ignored details like that halved gear waaaay too many times, and the rest of the design usually made me speculate wrong.

Still no need to jump to conclusions like that. It could very well be either at this point.

Everyone, LISTEN!!!
That line-up is clearly not final. As stated numerous times it was from a really early build of the game, back when it was just called "Skylanders 2016". So this does not confirm nor deny Pain-Yatta, Luminous, or any other character, and we won't know for certain until we get official news on the subject.

As for the new guys, I've decided I'm going to wait until we get full figures and/or gameplay of them before forming an opinion on them.
