However, I did read the article and it did bring up academy season 2 and season 3 again so that's good. But it also mentioned Imaginators being the best in the series. Why would they mention that? I'm not trying to start hype or anything but it just feels weird.

Look at it this way: if you did a family vlog, everybody would be on their best behavior for the first several episodes because it's new and there's cameras and strangers are watching, etc.

Eventually, you get used to the cameras being there, and you start acting more natural. Also, your family is nuts, because all families are nuts.

And then even later after that, most of the fam is tired of doing it, but then you've got that one person who's obsessed (also likely the reason it's been ruined for everyone else) who just won't let it die.

And there you have reality TV at its best (read: worst).

Also a lot of LPer groups, which don't even have to be family. If one person starts forcing collaborations and group content when no one else wants to, or creates drama to get attention "for everyone", it's going to go downhill. The only ones that I have seen stand up to the test of time threw away any collab obligations and only put group stuff in schedule when everyone wants to play the same thing.

As someone who is trying to get his own thing off the ground on Youtube, I can sympathize so much with anyone trying to vlog. The demands it places on you are immense. You HAVE to be consistent with videos, you have to have strong content, and if you are trying to monetize off it, you need A LOT of content...and that doesn't even play into faux-eternal-happiness you concievably have to show. Being a content creator is just hard to grasp until you've done it yourself. I didn't even release the stuff that I had (circumstances...go hurricane!) for one of my channels, and the main channel that I am working on I'm struggling to find the right mix of content quality vs volume. I do music - and can cook up in 5 minutes, but that doesn't mean that cook-up is worth putting up on Youtube...and then if I make something that's hot fire, I want to sell it and can't put it on Youtube.

and that doesn't even touch the timesink, if my video is 30 minutes long, its at least an hour of recording, editting will be at least two hours, and that's easy for me due to the nature of my content, I don't do a lot of cuts and the such compared to like - Nick from Trainer Tips. I'm in a controlled environment and everything and it is still a ton of work, I can only imagine how much work has to go into keeping up like 3-5 channels worth of content, consistently, while maintaining high-energy IN the videos. It really is work.

Yeah, but so much energy only fools kids. Many youtubers with vlogs, even those that do these as side content, have had times where they just dropped the happy persona because the viewers can tell they're not ok and sometimes even try to reach out. And again, it's one thing if you're doing it alone because you just have to police yourself - but if you try to fake your emotions and force other people to do that as well constantly, someone's going to stop caring and it's not just the savvy viewers.
