I think it's likely they will do another small press release like they did for the announcement of the Switch version and the two new Adventure Packs, but I have no idea when they would do it.

E3 could be a nice occasion, even if I wouldn't count too much on it.

When a couple of youtubers like TAGG, Yroc, Coinoptv get invited to Activision HQ a couple weeks before the announcement then we will know

well, Hologramme, all's quiet because nothing's happening since CTT's release. there's no definitive release date for wave 5, so we're chewing the fat and think of some other stuff to talk about. until we get concrete proof of wave 5's release date, not much to talk about.

Its worse...amiibos literally do nothing. Here, spend 15 dollars for this small figure that can unlock a costume for link...and do nothing else...yeah...

I bought into Amiibos when "additional content coming", but as it stands Amiibos were just a huge wste to the TTL category.

On the contrary, I enjoy amiibo more than Skylanders. The bond to Nintendo's brands is much stronger. Aside from a handful of characters that get blessed with marketing exposure, all the Skylanders will fade into obscurity.

Skylanders and amiibo are very different; in fact, most series of amiibo are completely different from each other. I like some amiibo lines, but others need better functionality. I like Skylanders better than some of them depending on what their features are, but there are amiibo that I like better than Skylanders, such as Wolf Link or the all the New Leaf amiibo. Those amiibo are good examples of the potential of the amiibo line, and they really need to follow that example.

While Skylanders themselves might fade into obscurity, they are so much more useful in the short term. Amiibo literally have zero value. Unless you are a collector, I just don't see the point.

Skylanders doesn't have the value of each character being known however, since you'll only know them when you play. Not in the dumb argument that people had of 'omg these characters are not memorable', but Spyro and the other Guest Stars are the only ones with series of their own; so the other figures are only going to stay in the mind of their specific fans.
In the other hand, if you grew up with Animal Crossing, you'd probably think of a Tom Nook figure fondly(or not so fondly) because he was there every time. And because of that, more fans, and people who will use their spare money to at least have something cool to decorate their shelves with.

I only collect Amiibos of characters I like. I have all the Zelda ones prior to Breath of the Wild, plus Captain Falcon, Mega Man, Pikachu and Lucario. Excited for Bayonetta and more Zelda figures coming out this summer, don't really care about the rest.

Nintendo is actually extremely generous when it comes to pricing. They only just started using paid online this year and it only costs $20 a year as opposed to the usual $60 you see on Playstation. They also go out of their way to say amiibo are simply extra features and aren't required to buy to fully enjoy a game.

well, Activision is probably banking on Destiny and CoD. EA mainly makes its money off sport games. Microsoft's HALO. for Ubisoft, I can only think of Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed. other than that, I can't think of anything else.

You guys are talking abou nintendo being greedy. I remember with the first Skylanders figures were only $10.00 until they realized how well they were selling and out of nowhere they became $13.00 for the same game

I believe they were originally about $7 in most stores, then TRU raised them to 9 or 10, which saw other retailers do the same. To TRU's credit, they often had BOGO sales, had the largest selection of characters, and depending on your store they could have someone there who knew the game very well.
