Question.

Are you asking about free to play games/browser games?

Or are you asking for ROMs/ISOs of older games?

I recommend going to gamejolt.com as they may have something there you're looking for and it's free.

I second this.

By open world, do you mean more like Minecraft or DragonVale? Sandbox games or building games?

I've seen very few horror games be classified in Sandbox or building games, or any similar to Minecraft or DragonVale :/

what is mmo's?

Quote:
A massively multiplayer online game (MMO or MMOG) is a multiplayer video game which is capable of supporting large numbers of players simultaneously. By necessity, they are played over a network, such as the Internet.[1] MMOs usually have at least one persistent world, however some games differ. These games can be found for most network-capable platforms, including the personal computer, video game console, or smartphones and other mobile devices.

There are plenty of fantastic free games out there. Try team fortress 2, I know that it's not what you specified but it's a blast to play, easily my favourite FPS.

If you're talking single player, open world, not horror and free, I don't really know many legal options for you.

Just remember that asking for emulators or ROMs is a big no no here.

And I think asking for them via PM counts too?

I'd say so since sending them via pm is what ultimately got Loco ripto'd.

UnReal World is an open world survival rogue-like (not rogue-lite) that is also free. I haven't really played it, but it's the only one that I know of that fits this criteria.

if you're asking for zips, you're basically asking us to send you software for you to pirate. you'd need to obtain that on your own rather than ask us to help you pirate.

To this day this game is the only one that I've seen to use iron-age Finland as it's setting.

Still, I don't think it's the kinda game that PopFizzMagic could get the most out of.

It's not a strategy game, it's a rogue-like.

If you want a good, free strategy game, try Battle for Wesnoth. You can download the latest version here:http://www.wesnoth.org/

I think PopFizz might be a bit too young to even know what a "rogue-like" is. Hell, even I am, and I'm 25 smilie (Trust me, you're not missing out on anything, they generally suck by modern day standards)

Perhaps an early build, but the final definitive version of the game costs money (granted cheap).

Yeah, Rogue was waaay before our time.

Ever tried Dwarf Fortress? I'm guessing you have, but if you haven't I strongly recommend it.

Never play Dwarf Fortress. It's not a bad game, but it's pure concentrated "Hardcore Gamer" pandering.

"this game is good but don't play it because it follows a trend"

ok

Nice Strawman you've got there. Sorry if me not liking Dwarf Fortress offends you.

---

The reason you shouldn't bother with Dwarf Fortress is because it's quite complicated (You simply CAN NOT play properly without reading the wiki back to back. Not to mention you have to go through a convoluted process, involving traps and other mechanisms, if you don't want your entire fortress to be taken over by cats), and not really all that interesting for people who aren't into games where the main attraction is losing spectacularly after several hours of game-play (The game's mantra is literally "Losing is Fun").

tl;dr: It's a nice niche game, but one that won't interest a majority of people outside of that niche. Minecraft, Tropico and Darklands (For the living world RPG element) just do the same things so much better, and are easier to get into, IMO.

Oh man, those are the exact reasons why I like to play it. I love the challenge of keeping your fortress alive amidst goblin sieges, necromancer raids, the attacks of forgotten beasts from of deep, the scarcity of resources, the complicated UI and pure dwarven stupidity. It's also makes me a little bit nostalgic.

Granted, I don't always feel like playing it, but that goes without saying.

Quote: Spyrobaro
except my post isn't even about the game itself; i can't be offended because i've never played it. my post is about your edgy reasoning for not suggesting it.

Hey! My reasoning is not "crappy"! *pouts* In fact, I seem to be the only one who seems to remember that we're talking about suggesting video-games to a 13 year old boy here.

True, you could say that about any game though. Even ones like CoD, since somebody out there clearly likes them.

No, I got what you meant. It's just that Spyrobaro seems to disagree, and I guess I just don't see the point in arguing over it.
