I've easily have over 500 Skylanders items, but I know there are others out there that has all the electonic store display models, all the rare release Skylanders and entire rooms full of Skylanders crap that I would never want to own. My rooms of doom are not confined to just Skylanders, so my collection would never make any world record considerations unless there is one for the largest most random collection of geeky junk bought almost entirely used and cheaply from garage sales. LOL

I think when they did that Pokemon collection, they also counted trading cards as individual items.

They picture merchandise, which makes me think it includes anything Skylanders.

Ehh, I may as well enter. I do have several pieces of unique/ rare merchandise, way over 400 figures (if factory defects, broken figures, and prototypes count, I guess), and I also own nearly every single Mega Bloks set (except for the more expensive ones).

Even though I'll probably be outshined by the people who have one of every single figure, including chase figures, it's worth a try.

I have all of the chase figures (except the new crystal Tuff Luck) but I don't have nearly enough items to make the number required; unless we consider each trading card an individual item (mentioned prior but disingenuous in my eyes).

I know someone who might be interested in this. I think they have over 1k different Skylander items, not sure though.

Well having 256 different swappers plus 231 Skylanders x2 and numerous standees and other merch might help me make my case to the Guinness Book. Guess it's time to hit them up.

Oh, I don't know - There's a Silent Hill collector with only 360 items in her collection, yet she still made it into the book.

As long as you have over 500 items (not including duplicates, for obvious reasons I suppose) you could still be in with a chance

Exactly. Unless they're also including all of the toys and tie-ins, which I don't care about. Skylander bubble bath count? lol

I'm up to about 450. That includes some duplicates (depending on how you cut it... Tree Rex from the 3DS, Wii and Wii U starter packs, the 3DS and Wii portal owner's packs and my in-store display is six on my list, but is really just one figure). If you count all of the chase variants and packaging variants, you could hit 500 *easy*.

I mean, if someone wants to be in the book, cool. Hope you win. I never built my collection for any type of gain. That's not to say if anyone did, they're wrong for it. I am simply saying I don't feel like being in a book of records.

Gamemaster....I almost feel the same way....didn't build or start collecting for the spotlight..(I'm going to enter anyway).. But its nice to see what can be considered the largest collection...would be nice to see your full collection... Even if you don't enter

Whilst I agree with the sentiment that it is more difficult to convey jest in written form without context/smilies/et al, in this case the statement was so ludicrous I did not perceive it could suspend disbelief?

Well, I believe that it is possible for the winner to get a Spotlight, just like with the Frito lay contests, getting the figure before its released and then releasing it later to the public. I highly doubt they would only make ONE spotlight.

This whole situation with this lying girl trying to get me thrown in the slammer has me down. Just don't see how humans can do stuff like that to each other. As such, the fun loving, crazy as heck me, is just a shadow of his former self. I've been finding myself questioning more, the morals of humanity and corruption and lies, rather than focusing on the things I love to do.

Here's hoping it all goes away and good prevails, so I can get back to feeling the way I used to feel.

I want you to know this, a long while back I came across pictures of your collection, (Cant for the life of me remember where though) and thought to myself, "how cool is this? I would love to have this kind of dedication" I set out to collect all of the skylanders that at least appear different in game, and learned how having a hobby like this just makes me feel better, knowing that all my hard work and dedication has made this happen. After joining this forum I finally realized that you were the owner of that amazing collection that inspired me to build the one I have today, and for that thank you.
So no matter what, promise that you will never give up fighting for the justice you deserve, and know you have many people that will stand by your side through it all.

Thanks, Sky. I haven't given up. Good to know I've inspired people to build collections. Hopefully we are the people that keep Skylanders going for years.

I'm quite interested to see who GWR find. I get the feeling we'll be seeing a collector who's gonna blow all the other collectors outta the water.

I'm the same way. I tried to bow out after Swap Force, but they sucked me back in and I'm all up to date on current releases. I figured that three complete collections (SA, Giants, Swap Force) was enough, but now it seems I'm going for #4. I don't get any of the extra stuff, ie. playsets, merchandise, Mega Bloks, etc., but I've got all the toys and in-game variants up to this point. And now that I'm working for a new site doing Skylanders reviews, in addition to my other game reviewing job, I'm probably in for the long haul.

Aw, darn. I guess it's time to get counting.

I also sent email about count...as far as Topps cards, qubi, and dog tag's do they can as one per...or just counting sets....same goes for comic's...I also have 3 different package styles of jumbo erasers.... Do they all count...because of packaging?

They emailed me back..This record is assessed by the total amount of unique items therefore all of the examples you gave count as one item each.

I just hope a real fan who owns nearly all possible Skylanders merchandise gets the record, and not a scalper.

How would you know? How would you be able to tell the difference? Also, not that I'm coming out in favor of scalping, but who's to say that scalpers aren't/can't be fans?

Well, in my opinion, a real fan does not prevent other fans from acquiring new figures when they come out by buying the same figure multiple times in a store, and he wants to help other fans get the new figures too (selling a $10 figure more than $50 goes against that philosophy).

They are not excerpting any doubles so It wouldn't help if you had a stock pile of same figures or merchandise

My collection is good but nowhere near 500 pieces, and collect for fun,not kudos.

They upgraded the contest to at least 1000 different Skylanders items, figures, plushes, posters, etc. I am hoping to have a chance I don't have every rare figure and display, but I have a few of them as well as other skylanders stuff. I'm sure I have over 1,000 items, but I know there are some of you out there that have a ton of stuff just like me and more.
