What lead you to that conclusion? Are you just upset you fell for Steven's "Social Experiment"

Punk was an excellent wrestler with incredible mic skills that unfortunately got overused and burnt out not very long into what would easily have been a HOF career (and could very likely be should his relationship with the company repair itself over time). I do not agree with his methods of quitting and it's always upsetting to see one of your favorites leave, especially on terms like that and with such a sour note in the end. Seriously Kane was eliminated. Why was his elimination on Punk legal? This was a much bigger issue to me than Bryan (who already had a match and lost that night) not appearing in the Rumble. But I digress. He'll be missed but I also get the slight feeling that he'll be back in a few years time when he's been able to rest up and is feeling an itch to return again.

If I'm being completely honest I doubt punk will ever return

I wasn't there but I get the feeling people thought that about Stone Cold back in the day. And we all felt this way about The Rock until a few years ago. I think he'll come back but it will be many years down the road and probably long past the point where he could still wrestle well.

If he ever does come back it would be to do what Jericho does, job to newcomers in order to put them over and build momentum for their career

But isn't jobbing what Punk hated? He always felt like other people (including older stars) were always being put over him. The last time we saw him Batista was being put over him (and originally Bryan) in the Rumble.

Yeah but he knows his career wouldn't be the same if he comes back and he probably would want to be helping the new talent in the company rather than main eventing...

I doubt he'd want to come back at all then. He'd want at least one more run with the belt.
