I couldn't think of what I wanted my costume to be, so I decided to just use what costume I'm using this year IRL. So when i complain about how much of a pain in the ass it is to put it on, I know from experience.

Today was the day of the annual dS Halloween Party. Basically, an excuse for everyone to get together in freaky costumes, get drunk, play twister with a perverted attitude, and hang out. Most people look forward to it. I, however, do not.

"HDAZZZZZZ you neeeeeed to goooo," Avatari scolded me over the phone. "Everyone's going to be there!"
I sighed. "The party is barely legal. If the house it was hosted in wasn't in the middle of nowhere we'd all be in prison. Hell, didn't someone die last year?"
"They never found the body, so I'm going with no."
"You know, people actually cared about Brightscales. She didn't deserve to die."
"She didn't die. Stop overreacting and go to the party. HDAZ, it's Halloween. Like, today. Can't you enjoy it? Spend time with your friends?" Avatari sounded irritated.
"I don't even have a costume."
"Ugh, you're impossible. I'm coming over, and we'll figure something out."
"I'm not going to that party." I argued.
"Yes, you are. No negotiating."
"But—"
"NO BUTS."
"FINEEEE."
Avatari hung up. I guess I am going. Ugh, I'm such a pushover. There better be food.

Avatari didn't even bother ringing the doorbell. "Hellooooo~ I brought Spyro-Gamer, I assumed you wouldn't mind. She can help out."
"Yay." I said unenthusiastically.
"We don't need no sass from you," S-G said, forcing as much attitude into the word 'no' and 'sass' as she could.
"Well, now what?" I asked. S-G rubbed her hands together and grinned. "We get started." She dragged me into the other room.
"So, do you have any ideas on a costume?"
"Not really. Never thought about it. So since I apparently have to go to this party, do I really need to wear something?"
"YES!" Avatari practically screamed. "It's tradition!"
"Everyone talks about it like it's some cult. I think if I don't wear anything nothing will happen."
"You must immerse yourself," Avatari coached. "You need to act the part. Be something that matches who you are~"
I laughed. "I could put that on a cat poster."
"And that, my friend, is why I am going as a cat. :3" She did a little dance in place, which weirded me out a bit.
I racked my brain for a witty retort. "Wow. I actually don't have a comeback for that one."
"S-G is going as a puffle-bat~" Avatari looked over at S-G, who nodded enthusiastically.
"Well, dressing up just seems kind of dumb to me," I shrugged. "There's more important things to do."
"You suck the happiness out of things."
"It's a talent." I growled.
"No fighting, you two," Avatari scolded. "Do you have any costumes already? If not, we'll find something."
"I have an Attack on Titan costume thing."
"Awesome!"
"Yeah, but it's a pain in the ass to put on."
"We'll do it later then," Avatari said. "I need to pick up a few things for my costume, you guys want to come along?"
"Sure. We should get lunch while we're out, I'm starving."

"All Target has is ****ty costumes." I growled as S-G tried to push a TMNT costume into my arms.
"Try it on! Come onnnnn you'd be a great Raphael. He's an ass, just like you."
"Avatariiiii, S-G is being passive-aggressive again." I complained.
"Now kids, shut up and get along."
We proceeded to the next aisle, where we ran into Beavcoon. "Hey Beavcoon~" Avatari said. "What's up?"
"Just buying a costume."
"What'd you get?"
Beavcoon proudly held up the outfit of his choosing. "I'm going to be a banana."
"THE BANANA KING. YOU ARE THE BANANA KING, BEAVCOON." S-G shouted, drawing the attention of the few other shoppers around.
"Banana banana banana banana." Me and Avatari chanted.
"Are you guys high or something?" Beavcoon asked, slowly backing away.
Avatari laughed. "No, we've just had a coffee too many. We're out shopping for things for my costume, then we're helping HDAZ get into her weird outfit," I protested, but she ignored me. " We're forcing her. She wasn't even planning on going to the party!"
"Everyone has to go to the party!" Beavcoon objected. "I'll help you find things for your outfit, Avatari."
"Can I go to the video game section yet?" I asked impatiently.
"Soon. I just need to find one more thing~"
"What is it?" Beavcoon asked.
"Cute little cat ears. :3" Avatari disappeared into the next aisle with Beavcoon. Me and S-G snuck over to the video games section while they were busy. They'd catch up later.

"Guyssss you weren't supposed to go anywhereeee." Avatari whined as she caught us playing a demo. Arguing, we proceeded to the checkout to buy Avatari and Beavcoon's things. Much to my protest, our misfit gang returned to my place so everyone could dress up for the party, as it was only a few hours away. Avatar and S-G had no problems getting into their costumes, Beavcoon struggled a bit, and I spent half an hour struggling with the weird straps on my costume. "This is why I don't dress up." I growled. The others just laughed as I struggled. Once we were ready, we called Prex, so we could all carpool together. Avatari's car had 5 seats, and there were 4 of us, so we decided we might as well add one to the party. Prex lived down the street as well so it wasn't difficult for her to come over before we left.
"Nice costume... I think." Beavcoon said as Prex approached the car.
Avatari's eyes widened. "No weapons in my car!" Prex laughed. "It's just a bat, and it's for my costume, I'm not going to smash in your faces or anything. At least, not until we arrive."
"I see you've brought the right attitude." S-G giggled as we all got in the car. "SHOTGUN." I called. Avatari looked around wildly. "Where? Where?"
"Just means I've got dibs on the front seat, jesus."
"Oh. I guess I'm a bit jumpy, heh."
We all laughed as the car pulled out of the drive. We were on our way.
