Oh wow, you can trade in your entire Skylanders collection and get $3 back!

I kid, but considering Gamestop's price point on trade in games, you'll probably get hardly nothing selling to them.
Although I can't remember, I know they did this during SSA...how much did they pay then? The price to purchase used figures was ok and then they dropped them and put them out for like $1.99..i remember picking up an extra Triggs, Spyro and Gilly for that.

Gamestop just did a revamp of their trade program where they're offering more for your games now. Most games just got a 20% increase in trade value when you're looking for store credit.

I have been buying any skylander figure on craigslist for 50 cents a piece for last two years and buying them at yard sales for 50 cents or less and have accumulated 432 common Figures.... Just took them all in for store credit.... Guy looked at me like I was crazy...he took my phone number and said it would be at least a day or two to process them all and when he was done he would call me back With a total! But from what he could see the lowest amount was $2.50...so should pay for all my trap team....lol for a couple waves...

Most Gamestops hate these figures being brand new, using them as trade-in is going to frustrate them even more. They take up space on shelves where one could fit multiple games, that can net multiple times the cost of the figure. They tried to do this for Skylanders once before and it failed miserably. I'm not sure why they are acting like this is something new. I foresee a repeat of the last time this happened.

EB games have always taken them in Australia and they take up hardly any shelf space as they are just dumped in a big box around the store.

^ yep! my local store has them neater though, in small plastic bags up on the pegs. I've seen a lot of the stores put them in the glass case behind the counter too.

It would be interesting to see if GameStop corporate issues stores a "standard" price list of what to pay for skylanders, or leaves it up to individual stores (or regions) to set their own prices. If such list exists, it would be interesting to see which ones they place higher value on. The few stores around me who buy skylanders pay only 50 cents for cores and .75-$1 for Giants/Swappers. If you have something more "rare", one of stores near me will look it up on Ebay and then offer you a small fraction of what it's selling for. Just out of curiousity, I asked what they'd give me for an extra NIB bronze E3 Hot Dog I have, and after the guy "checked things out", he said he could offer me $10-$13 "depending on what condition the packaging was in" (since I didn't have it with me at the time).

So based off of other peoples posts i decided to trade-in any figure that we had doubles, a higher series of or a lightcore figure, and I came up with 52 figures to trade in. I expected to average about $4 each based off of the posts but not so true. They do not take Minis or Disney Infinity Playset pieces FYI. Also they said they may start taking in used Skylanders games and portals in the future but they were still trying to work that all out.

This last bit of info is interesting, they said they will ship the used Skylanders to their warehouse to wipe them clean. I am attaching a copy of my receipt so you can see what prices I got as a PowerUp Member.

Hope this helps others make the right decision!

Hm. Seems like with all the portals they've been taking in for trade, they should set something up in store that reads the figure (saving time entering it/attempting to identify it) and wipes it at the same time.

Maybe they want to make bundles of used to sell. Complete collections, or maybe by element. Perhaps a "Complete Your Collection" section online?

The only way I see this working is if they ship these to corporate to facilitate online orders, AND there's a demand for them. I'm getting a feeling there will be way more inventory for demand and they will suspend the program.

Which is exactly why I wanted to trade mine in ASAP. I'm not expecting this deal to last long, maybe only a month or two. I took about a dozen figures in today and got about $35 back for them. Not bad for extras that were just sitting in a box, and it helped me pay off Hyrule Warriors.

I had a bunch of duplicates lying around so I thought I'd go over to my Gamestop and see how much I would get. I had 16 figures (Mostly cores, one light core, one giant, two swappers) and ended up getting 50 dollars for all of them(I have a pro membership there so I'm sure that helped too). If you have a bunch of spare figures you have no use for, I honestly recommend going there and seeing how much you'll get smilie

Aww, and I already gave away all my doubles. Oh well, I'd rather know the little boy that was in my class last year is actually using them all the time.

Edit: Actually, I might be able to sell back some of those double minis that I'm going to be stuck with. I wanted Spry but had no clue what to do with a second Mini Jini. Thank you, Gamestop.

I traded in 24 figures that basically were unavoidable doubles like Tree Rex, Cynder 2, Jet Vac, Grim Creeper, Shroom Boom, Bumble Blast, etc. I only buy one version of each figure and try to make it the variant. My only exceptions have been the 10 series 3 figures, and I bought the LC figures because I thought they would be great, and quickly found out they were mostly terrible. This was a great reason to get rid of the LCs since even Skylanders seem to have abandoned them. Nobody wanted the duplicate figures and they were going for very little online. GameStop gave me $106 and change, and that paid for my Dark Edition in full. These were literally characters that I either never wanted or instantly regretted. I also dumped Fryno since his series 2 is coming out. Averaging about $4.50 for these I thought was solid, so definitely don't knock the GS prices because on a lot of these they are quite fair.

I also noticed they only accept certain in-game variants, such as the non-retail exclusive ones like Scarlet, Gnarly, and Quickdraw, but not some like Jade, Molten. They accept Polar also seeing as it was gamestop exclusive.

polar whirlwind got me $5.00 and GITD sonic boom was $3 while springtime trigger got me $4.50
