Do you like up close fighters, or ranged ones, or other? My favorites are swordsmen and up close fighters because I think they're more fun to play as.

I find characters that have both a melee and a ranged attack are awesome. I don't like most melee only characters, and I don't like most ranged only characters. There are a few exceptions though.

I agree - I like a mix. Magna Charge is one of my favorites because of his ranged attack and his melee attacks that pick up and hurl characters for when you're surrounded.

My favourite attack type is chain attacks (e.g. Prism Break's Crystal Shards) and crowd-controlling attacks (e.g. Zap's slime).

Ranged/pet, or ones that can "set up" attacks like Whirlwind or Zap.
Ranged or the sake of this being in the Swap Force thread and that's the only one of those that works properly :u

Hmm...I suppose I like more close range fighters, that was what drew Stealth Elf to be my favourite character.

Going back and playing SSA for a nuzlocke, I'd say ranged characters have a very clear advantage over pretty much anything (except AoE heavy chars) as melee chars can get swamped and ganged on quite easily. I prefer pure range characters.

After playing a bit of nightmare arena recently, I'd say it all depends. For arena, survivability is key, so ranged and crowd control are great. They also tend to be much slower compared to melee brawling. Clearing levels or missions fast is way easier with a melee character, and Stealth Elf is definitely a beast for damage, but oh so squishy. So generally in those scenarios where it doesn't matter how much you die, slamming melee is a lot more fun.

If you're going for no-death runs, then maybe it still doesn't matter as long as you can switch out fast enough, though low health chars can get downed in two hits. One of the exceptions here is Bumble Blast, who outputs decent damage, but is also homing. He can run and gun like no other, despite not being that fast. His homing bees can even damage bosses like the bird easily when she's on her perch.

So difficulty and situation are really the keys here - on anything below nightmare it's really just about what effects come out when you mash the buttons smilie
