Making the friend list visible to the public (if you want, feature in settings), and making friend requests instead of adding a bunch of people that are oblivious to that.

Huge ass "Yes, please" to the first one.

The second one...I don't know. I imagine it would be useful for some, but I don't see myself using it.

yeah to the first one, no to the second one. most of my friends list is full of people i usually roleplay with so i can easily see if they're on or not.
