How is gameplay of Countdown? Does the Kickoff version have anything different, apart appearance?

I ask because there's a promotion here with a sports newspaper, and I could get for regular price, but its a character that doesn't attract me really, and I don't even own Swap Force (yet, but I plan to get it, eventually).

So I was thinking if would be wise to get it now while I can. Is it a fun character to use?
The ones I prefer tu use (among the ones I have) are Slam Bam, Bash, Cynder.

Countdown's pretty swell.

If you want to collect them all you should definitely get him now.

Thanks for replies. I don't aim to collet every one. Something like getting one per element per game, plus any one else catches my imagination, is my goal. And Countdown is not a Skylander I like for its looks or the idea. But maybe it's fun to play, I don't know...
Also, I think giving it a soccer ball as head is the most stupid idea ever for a variant.
So no, I would leave it on the shelf without thinking twice. I'm only wondering if I will regret it later
