More than likely an employee. Given the fact that he is also selling a gold fire kraken and Snowderdash.

And you finally find one in store and it's this guy. smilie

The seller for that eBay listing also is selling the special employee edition versions of Fire Kraken and Smolderdash, and the ugly red/pink Dune Bug, too.

I'd wager that the seller is an actual employee of Activision or Vicarious Visions, or maybe a close relative of an employee. Oddly, s/he is also selling things like ... a bundle of twine, and botanical products ... and a sweater.

If Doom Stone was actually out and available in retail stores, we'd see plenty of the regular Doom Stone on eBay.

This...still looks hideous but not as hideous as the other two. I blame the Bronze. It looks like a chocolate swirl!

The trilogy is complete though. So it's Bronze Trap Stone, Silver Stink Shadow, Gold Doom Bomb.

Mess.

Funny that you say that, Matteomax. When I first saw these new swap metallic variants, the first thing that jumped into my head was, "they really weren't thinking too well, considering their target demographic, when they dreamed up clashing two-tone metallic chase variants."

The whole "chase" variants line-up from Swap Force is pretty awful, really. These metallic two-toners, plus the "green boogers" ones (Chop Chop, Riptide, Scorp) ... just awful, artistically and aesthetically.

Just goes to show I guess, looking at the prices on eBay for these metallic swappers, that it really doesn't matter what variants they produce ... some of ya'll are going to go bonkers for them no matter what. They could design "Brown poop Wrecking Ball" or "Foaming at the mouth Rabid Slobber Tooth" or "Rotted Shroomboom", and people would apparently still throw hundreds of dollars at them.

Agreed. The only "good" ones are Snowderdash, Gold Fire Kraken, and Red Dune Bug.

It all depends on the "rarity." If there's only one on eBay (and it's the first one to show up), there will always be people who are willing to pay $200+ for it. The bids will slowly increase over the given time, until it's over $500+

Even figures like the Flocked Springtime Trigger Happy will be worth something to some people, whether it be one person, or 30.

Gold/Bronze? Looks more like solid gold to me. A chase variant AND a figure that isn't out yet, anywhere? That's going to fetch a hefty sum from some impatient collector.

Me, I'd rather just have the regular one like the others. Not a fan of these metallic chase variants.

It's definitely a gold/bronze. The top part is gold and the bottom is bronze.

Whether or not the chase variants look good or not is a personal opinion. I think it is a great idea to have two-tone chase variants for the Swappers since it fits with the fact they have swappable parts.

Ok, I don't go after chase variants at all but if they made Rabid Slobber Tooth or Rotted Shroomboom I'd sell my daughter to buy them lol. Make them in game variants and I'll sell my wife too! smilie

EDIT: And before anyone has a fit, YES I AM KIDDING! I love my family and wouldn't trade them for anything other then a bullmastiff.

Nice to see employees of Activision doing the right thing and not profiteering from drooling fanboys.

Right, so the Seller not only profiteered from drooling fanboys, but also now likely violated eBay policy by (probably) completing the transaction privately off-eBay after using eBay (and DarkSpyro, coincidentally) as free advertising.

Remember - This is the company that has designed a game to hit on virtually every sense that younglings have to make them want (their parents) to spend crazy amounts of dollars on this franchise. In-game commercials, areas locked unless you buy more, giving out in-game achievements based on how many figures you've bought... This entire game is about profiteering in the worst way. Don't act surprised than an individual employee just follows the example before him/her. smilie

Besides, there's no evidence this figure sold off-eBay. Perhaps Activision figured out who it was and said "Hey... wait a second..."

Well, the same Seller is still selling the "gold" Fire Kraken and the "Snowderdash". So, I highly doubt Activision "found out" about a sneaky employee, but then only insisted that the Doom Stone variant listing be ended, but not the other two employee exclusives. You may not call that evidence, but I do.

We've seen several of the other employee exclusives up on eBay without them being pulled - whereas this one is one that looks like it's not even really out yet. I could easily see this being a case of "Hey, you're free to sell this if you want, but we do consider this to be covered under NDA until the general release date of XX/XX/XXXX. You can't discuss it before then."

Just proposing an alternative idea that's equally plausable given the amount of evidence (zero) that we have on the situation.

giving an employee a figure with a retail value of $15 fully knowing that the employee can sell it for hundreds if not thousand of $ is a perfect way not to incur additional taxes for both the employer and the employee

If you are referring to the Springtime Trigger Happy 4/18 event, some Toys R Us were suckered into putting the box out early. I spoke to a guy at my local Toys R Us who went in the back to find it. He said the box had disappeared. He said there was a guy that said, "There is nothing new in the box. Just put them out." The employee said that the guy must've convinced the manager to put out the contents of the box. I am not sure if there was one in there or not. I am guessing the clown might actually be someone who frequents these forums.
